In Germany we have the option to lease bicycles through our company. My company has the agreement that we pay 1/3 of the purchasing price, they pay 1/3 and then the government gives a 1/3 subsidy. This also helps a bit with the tax (my 1/3 is deducted from Gross, so no tax paid on my 1/3 and the company scores a bit as well because of employees riding). Nou ja, ek het die sommetjies gemaak and got 2 bikes. My absolute DREAM bike and a road bike. Downside, dream bike not ridable due to DT Swiss wheel recall. Maar dis ok.

Dream bike! Spec: Canyon Speedmax, Ultegra Di2, 4iiii Powermeter and DT Swiss wheels (front is part of the recall, maar altwee moet ingaan).

Maar die een kan (en het ek al) gery. Die skool vakansie het net begin (Duitsland joke, as die lang somer vakansie begin reën dit die eerste 2 weke) so ek ry nie nastenby soveel as wat ek wil nie! Spec: Canyon Ultimate, Ultegra Di2, 4iiii Powermeter and DT Swiss wheels (not part of the recall 😂)

And waxed chains…….

wat n baragin! om daar te leef.

These are part of the law here.  With the aero bar the normal bells just won't work.  But Canyon to the rescue.  Will fit into the bar end of my road bars.

Oh, and just FYI, you must carry positive identification with you at all times. If you are stopped for, e.g. no bell, your ID and address is used and you get a few points at Regensburg (Card Authorities).  This is applied to your drivers license.

New Leatt shorts arrived in the mail. I thought they were pricey, until I looked around and found that most options that have decent pockets for trail use aren’t much cheaper. Nicely adjustable as well.IMG_5785.jpeg.d0333cbc19048c15fe782e7019ec16ce.jpeg

Been looking for a storage solution for bikes for a while. I have lots of space in a barn but my bikes have been getting pretty syph in there due to dust and straw and stuff blowing around.

I have an old stable that I use for training and wanted to find something to use in there that wouldn’t get over drilling holes in the wall for hooks.

Ended up with this neat solution from Topeak that arrived this week. Uses pressure on the roof and the floor to stay stable and holds up to 4 bikes (apparently)

New bike Day - using the UK gov supported Cycle to Work Scheme (with a fairly hefty top up) that allows you to get a bike, paid for by your employer, which is paid off by you pre-tax over 12 months, I managed to lay my hands on a new Anthem as an upgrade for my 2014 aluminium anthem. Arrived today - absolutely  delighted. Will resist the urge to ride until I’ve had it wrapped at my LBS.

My first ever Pike, it's been some years since I have had a new fork. Luckily I had +-100km to get to grips with all the settings as my Fox sold much quicker than anticipated.

The first half I was not impressed and missed my Fox 34. My hands hurt and I really regretted my decision.

The second have after playing with the settings, the HSC and LSC being completely new to me. I'm still dumb with the settings but think by accident I got it perfect. It's smooth over bumps and feel planted and yet playful and poppy.

Best part full fat Pike only 23g heavier than 34 SC, okay given the fox had a little mudguard on it's still much closer than I expected.

O ja and a XX1 shifter to go with the derailleur 😜 (still need to fit)

New pedal day. Excited to get these pedals on to the new bike as soon as it gets back from having ridewrap put on. Being 20kg overweight currently, I reckon the 25 grams saved over traditional SPD’s will make all of the difference.

My new bike was dropped off on Saturday. Gen 2 Titan Racing Cypher Carbon LTD, with Armour-ride on (including a splash of colour on the top tube).

Only used it for a short easy ride yesterday, but feels very nice so far. Saddle height maybe needs to be lowered another tiny bit, but I will decide after a harder ride.

Some tweaks to be done next week, after the Prince George which I will do with my hard-tail. The SLX 4-piston brakes from the HT will be swapped to this bike, power meter moved over as well, and maybe a Holy Rail storage setup to avoid a saddle bag scratching the dropper. Oh, and getting the many many cables to look a bit more neat.
