I am not sure if it has been covered within these 222 pages, but a question for folks who have installed a 1x11 XT system on their 110's: are you happy with the system? Would you change anything? What size front chainring and cluster are you using?

I am about to pull the trigger on a XT 8000 system, with a 11-42 cassette and 32 front. Some forums recon it is worth upgrading the shifter to XTR, but I don't believe it is worth an extra R1000.

Thanks for any advice.

I had the same happen to me a few years ago with a Giant Anthem. Two rides in I had issues with the frame. I took it back to the guy I bought it from and demanded my money back. The fault here does not lie with Pyga but with the guy who he bought it from. Very, very fishy that a second hand bike cracks in two places on the second ride.

The bike mentioned above was mine.. To give a little context to the issues mentioned...

I sold my 110 as my Max had just arrived. I initially had absolutely no plan on selling it, but it was suggested to me that having 3 bikes in the entrance hall wasn't ideal for a good marriage.

About two weeks later I received Whatsapp pics of the broken chainstay. As luck would have it, the day I cancelled my insurance on it was when Paul contacted me to tell me about the issue he had while taking a peddle at Magic Forest. I was very surprised with the chainstay breaking and got both Pat and Revolution involved with fixing it - which they did without any quibble, even although I had sold the bike.

The guys at Revolution can also vouch for the fact that the bike was fully serviced at all times. Two days before I sold it, it went to Revolution for a top to bottom final service to check that the bike was 100% before sending it to its new owner.

So as Baracuda rather stupidly suggests above, it was not sold because of any underlying issues, if I had been aware of any problems not only did I still have warranty, but I was (and still am on my current bike) fully comprehensively insured, so it would have been one simple phone call to get it sorted.

Further, the crack in  the frame was found almost a year after I sold the bike, not on the second ride.

I was contacted by Paul a week or so ago, and I forwarded him the original invoice documents that I had on file for the bike to help him with his claim.

The concerning thing here is, why are these frames cracking?

As far as I'm aware it's only the 110 frames that are cracking in that place on the seat tube.

Are people riding the 110s too hard (too big drop-offs, hucking to flat too much) and pushing the bike beyond their designed capability? Are the cracks from high stress points introduced by welds that haven't been properly stressed relieved or is it just a matter of the tube and layout design that creates high stress points at that location in the frame? Seized bearings on the rocker? Does it have to do with how far the seat post is inserted? Is it a particular batch? All questions that can be asked to try determine the cause. Has Pyga managed to find any reason for the breakages? And why only the on the 110?

Got to say that a cracked chainstay on a Pyga must be a first though and pretty unlucky.

It would be interesting to know how many 110 frames have cracked as a percentage of total units sold. I'd imagine it's quite small otherwise there would be more noise around about it.

I recently chatted to Patric about this and he told me that he is aware of a batch of Oneten frames that were poorly welded where these frames are cracking. He assured me that if I am the owner of one of these frames and my frame cracks, Pyga will replace my frame without hesitation. Patrick is a good person and he is always willing to go the extra mile for people who support his brand. Get hold of Patrick, he is usually in the Howick Shop, believe me he is passionate about his brand and I believe he'll go out of his way to resolve any negativity surrounding the Pyga brand.

That's good to know that they have tracked down the cause to a batch. I never doubted Patrick's integrity and have only heard good things about him and his "go beyond" effort to make his customers happy. I've spoken with him a few times when I was in the process of buying my frame back in mid 2013. He even lent me his 110 to test ride at the Pietermaritzburg UCI course  when I was down there visiting SA in March 2013.

I only wish Pyga made a long travel 29er (Stage MAX not quite there for me). The 110 rear is at the limit on some trails I ride and would love a 140 on the rear like the YT Jeffsy or Pivot Switchblade.

I use the casette and cranck with 30 t absolute black oval, combined with a xtr shifter and the left xt shifter is my dropper lever.

With fatige leggs 42-30 is just not light enough. Would use the 11-46 version.

Hi Baracuda. I'm running a complete XT M8000 1x11 groupset on my oneten. XT shifter works 100% and no need for a XTR unless you have some extra cash for bling. I Use a 32 chainring and a 11-42 cassette. Works fine for me and my conditions but if you stay and ride in the western cape or kzn you'll maybe want to go with a 11-46 at the back. Only trouble I had was getting the chain line right. Go back to page 205. I Explained my problem and solution with pictures in a couple of posts. Its my personal opinion but I still think that XT gives the best performance and durability for the price you pay.

I've gone 1X10 with 32oval front and 11-40 praxis works cassette, works a treat. When I need a new cassette will move to 11sp
