Newo Posted December 16, 2012 Share I got a set of levers and bars from lindin cycles for 200 bucks and they work great got a shorter stem so I could ride on the hoods most of the time. It a bit of a mission to set the brakes because there no adjuster for the cable tention.

Chro Mo Posted December 18, 2012 Share So having only ever had fat-tyre bikes, and therefore knowing less than nothing about road bikes -would those who venture on both sides of the Force be kind enough to share some thoughts on the following: I already have v-brakes ( as opposed to canti's) set up on the bike - would these be compatible with road levers? In other words, if I went the whole hog of buying the off-road dropbars, and then were looking at getting the road brake levers, would they work with each other? Assuming this to be the case, what model in the roadie world, would be similar to LX / SLX / XT? Don't want to break the bank - just want something solid and dependable... And then lastly - assuming I ran it as a singlespeed - and therefore do not require gears, would this impact on the type of levers one chooses? Do they all come out as integrated systems now, or can you still get those that only brake - or doesn't it really matter? Apologies for the hi-jack(?) - but hopefully others will also find the answers to the above useful...Just purchase the Shimano drop bar or Tektro levers off CRC - cheap as chips. TRP make an incredibly good looking driop bar lever as well, but very expensive. My LBS here ordered Shimano levers for me, so also possible that route. I have a spare set of Tektro levers if you are interested - postage only no charge.
Flowta Posted December 20, 2012 Share Finally got round to connecting up the brakes etc., put the bar tape on this morning and went for it's Maiden ride at Majik Forest. Was quite fun but a bit low to ride in the drops where your braking power is. Gotta try source a set of Midge or Luxy bars. Sorry about the bad pic RodTi

[and as an aside - if the day ever comes that you feel the need to get rid of that fork - PM me! ] Think the Midge or Luxy will make a big difference. Probably going to pick one up for myself in the new year - just want to get a feel of how the new rigid goes... I see plenty opt for using interruptor brakes on the top, so that one needn't reach for the brakes in the dropps if you're hanging off the back of the saddle... Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted November 13, 2013 Share Hey Rouxtjie, the shifters should work together, I think. I know of some DH guys that run 105 / ultegra RD's and use the normal 10sp shifter for that ultra sleek setup. AFAIK the actuation ratio is the same across road & mtb. I was wrong... Crankset is the worry at the moment, don't think I will have enough chain ring clearance to run a road crank Brakes are a given....Avid BB7
