Enjoyed yesterday as I have all the others - just a great vibe riding through the city. I think it gets better year after year.

Started in H. Pooks hill had most scambling with a few guys hammering it. No real bunch forming until we got to the M1 and then it all fell apart as we got to the Wilds and ran into some slower riders and it was pretty much a solo effort from then on.

Saw some guy in pieces by the Bryanston CC.. Didnt look good. Metro was on the scene.

The final few km's are tough. Crossing the Jukskei twice in 5km.

Came home in 3:06 with at least something left in the tank, so now know how to approach it going forward.

Rode to the start from Beverly/Lonehill area. Easy. In a few years it should work out as a venue. The race mag reckons it is the home for the next 10 years. We shall see about that.

The first year in a new venue is always going to have teething problems. It will get better. Promise

Big generalization there dude.  I raced the first lap, its hammer down and speed for a time.

Did the second lap with the wife, I pushed a cow bike over Nelson Mandele bridge, pushed older ladies and gents on the hills towards the Lionpark, and generally encouraged guys and gals when they seemed disheartened.

Raced the first, but loved the second.

This is my way to take part, to give back to the sport.

Read my post again there are exceptions

In addition if they are going to allow it, all second rounders must pay double entry and the proceeds to CHOC

I would say the extra 15km + the wind factor for the Argus makes a big difference in terms of difficulty, especially for the middle & back of the field.

On the flipside, I found the 94.7 route to be tougher, lots more rolling hills, very few flat sections to hide in the group, it certainly felt like more climbing than the Argus even if the total elevation is about the same. But overall I would say the Argus is slightly harder.

I'm so confused now

Does any one know where online can we go look for the photos from our race numbers on helmets and handle bars

Don't agree with you bud, if you pay double you have the right the race double.  Will cause more chaos. Racing a second lap is just irresponsible.

I say race your first and if you want to ride again you do it in spirit of helping other's.

I enjoyed the new route but definitely harder.  so try to figure the impact of the new route, the guys winning time was 12min slower, female was almost similar to last year?

OK fine then just ban all 2nd lappers. The back markers managed quite well  until you came along

Does anybody gave the gpx file of the race for me? Please and Thank you. On the 3rd last climb while waiting for friend to climb back on bike I saw that I had accidentally paused my Endomondo at the start, so I only have the profile of the last 3 climbs, such sadness.

Here you go (attached) I hope... :)

Edit: okay now it is...

And now the Cows.... Well I guess opinions differ according to your own circumstances.

I was pushing (assisting) a lady friend on her first 94.7 up one of those dreaded hills near the end.

I was in the middle of the road passing a group of walking cyclists, with a lot of space still on our right hand side .... and I hear "coming through" ... well I ignored this call, as I am also "coming through" and tons of space on our right ... and again "coming through mr "another charity cycling top shirt name" , so I turn around and see what I can describe as an old ice-cream delivery bike with a herd of cows around it.

Well now I understood the situation and got out of the way immediately - no questions and had a little cordial chat to one of them.

This is what the rear end of the 94,7 is all about. Its fun, its about camaraderie and everyone has their own personal goals.

Thumbs up to you guys - you rock .....

I was the pilot for the gold ice cream trike for CHOC (weight 65kg), the thing is wide! With people helping to pull,  it gets even wider.

Downhills,  it is an absolute deathtrap!

We asked as polity as possible for a gap left or right to pass.

Some obliged, some ignored (including the many that had their ipods in...), some just plain stopped and others helped out......

3 mechanicals, a terrifying top speed of 65kmh , 4h30 ride time.  Think we finished around the 5h mark.

Was a blast!

yeah saw that too - looked like a woman, writhing in agony. Not cool, hope she / he's ok.

A few km's after Corlette, there was a crash taking out a few riders, not quite sure what happened, was on the far side of the group, and saw a couple of riders who went straight into the bails.

First ride on the black stuff was interesting - very different to dirt, and I kinda enjoyed it   Started at the back of E, and was a bit silly to have a few hard pushes in the first 10kms until finding a group that I settled into. Combined with too many beers on Saturday night and lack of training, started feeling my first cramp in my calf before the 2nd WP. But managed to get it under control, and fend it off.

The bunches seemed to spread out around Hillbrow, and then was more or less a solo ride back. All was going well until the long climb past Kya Sands, where quads started to moan substantially. Those last 2 climbs in River Sands crawled and was just focused on bringing it home, slowly. Quite glad with a 3h16 on the MTB.

Kudos to rider #6323, riding a dual sus with 2.4 knobblies on. Cruised past me at Deco Park, i'm sure must have done a sub 3 on that. And to the dude on the blue Yeti DS, also probably a sub-3 with knobblies.

I was in F, might have been the same crash. Saw one guy broke his arm quite badly in that crash (was a gruesome sight...). Not sure what happened there, was no obvious reason for a pile-up to happen there, after that I didn't trust the group riding skills of my fellow F riders and spent most of my time riding next to the group....

Also earlier in the first 10km's there was a minor crash with a few people going down, one chop was screaming at the fallen riders as he was approaching them "Get out of the road!!". I mean really.... A guy laying hurting on the tar and your only reaction is to shout at them because they inconvenience you???
