The "I hate Specialized" Bandwagon...... what's the deal?

Spez certainly know how to get their brand out there, and take good care of their pros. And as Sean Kelly says, the best bike is the one you getting paid to ride.

Worth noting what Suzzie rode for a good few years, and won many World Cups, Champs and more

Isn't it "Spaz".... why are people saying "Spez" ... it's Spaz ... NO ????

On a serious note... the reason I'm not a fan is because you have legions of idiots all thinking that the "Epic" is the be all and end all of MTB's... Most of these jokers should rather be considering the Camber and the super awesome STUMPY FSR.. but they get "befok" in their heads and get/want an Epic for ALL the wrong reasons... and then the stupid "boxes" <change to local lingo sell them Epics because they see them coming a mile away...

Another thing that peeves me personally on the Spaz is the super-low-end bits that get mixed in with high end components.... really??? do you so badly want to save R50 on your cost that you have to mix X5/X7/X9/X0 bits on one bike?? Or is it just another gimmick to pull the stupid oke back later to upgrade his Epic's cheap brakeset to a XO 2 piston "trail" brakeset on a XC racing machine....

really? I've only seen high quality brakes on specialized bikes like the Formula The One

The lady doth protest too much methinks

Know this, if you are a spez "hater" you probably squeezing one out ever night thinking about an sworks epic. Kind of like when you were in laerskool and the girl who's ponytails you were pulling were the one you secretly had a moerse crush on.

One thing Specialized do really well that noone else seems to do locally (as far as I know) is their "test the best" days. That's what did it for me. Getting to do some decent km on the demo bikes at a place you are used to riding was great. Rode an Epic, Camber and Stumpjumper FSR and settled on the Camber. The Specialized concept stores also have a permanent set of demo bikes you can loan for a weekend to try out before you buy - very cool.

Agree with the sentiments around the Epic though - not sure why anyone would want it over the Camber unless they are challenging for the podium :)

Sorry man I'll put in a word ..... Oh no they don't know or care about me :(

I was really looking forward to the PE one, but I am riding Attakwas that weekend.  Will have to organise a Garden Route Trail Park weekend end of January then.

I see people are understanding this topic, the bikes are ok I guess if you like overpriced things. Its the posers that are dressed to to toe that can't even ride that are the problem here. All the gear and no idea.

So at what skill level are you no longer a poser and can wear what you want?

Haters.... have no clue

My oldest Spez S Works epic with v brakes 10 years old, going to be very difficult to replace it one day....guilty feelings if u know what I mean. Maybe I just get a bigger place so I have more space then I can keep it

Buy a bicycle that makes you smile. Ride it whilst smiling.

End of story.

Close the internet - we have a winner!

Sad story, but he is right.

So as a Spez rider, I'll openly admit, I miss my Niners.

Things just ain't the same...
