Amateur rider beating the passport while on EPO

In my 12 weeks on a watt bike, my numbers increased more than his did with his micro-dosing. Perhaps a structured training plan and some #HTFU is all you need to see some improvements.

Or let's measure the base he came from? He was already in shape when he took it and didn't up his riding, so there wasn't much to do with regards to a structured plan. So we can be confident that a large portion of his gains was a direct benefit of his micro dosing.

I however do agree with you that a plan and a large dose of HTFU is the only clean way to get big gains.

Other than that it was a good experiment and I am glad someone did it so that passports can be scrutinized and not taken as gospel!

Lots of pros say that they are clean because they are on passports now.....

Astana at Giro looked more like a refuel (a BB as Tyler calls it) being stronger than everybody over a long tour is more an EPO effect....... Like Clenbutador (runs and hides :))

I really thought that this topic would draw more attention.

Could it be a fact that we "know" this, but we rather choose not to talk about it and to believe the guys are clean so that we can support our sport and riding hero with a "clear conscious"?

Been there, seen the hub movie.....

It would just go around in circles:

1/3 saying who cares, he is just an amateur and money should not be spent on testing amateurs.

Another 1/3 asking where they can get some

The last 1/3 saying they should put him in jail for life.

I have been of the opinion that the testing is too far behind the "advancements"

Perhaps there are no non-dopers in the upper echelon of the cycling fraternity, how will one know for sure? These days people's "word" or even signed declarations or oaths mean squat (a generalisation, I know..)

Patch......

What can you do?

I train my ass off.  6 days a week.  Winter, summer.  Sub 0 temps, the works.

And so does many others.

And then there are the crooks out there taking short cuts.

In the end it really doesn't matter to me.  If you have to cheat to be competitive in the amateur bunches....the so be it.

You have to live with your life and conscious and when you meet your Maker, you will have to explain why you have been a bad boy......

As long as there is money involved, the dopers will always be ahead of the testers.

I know how you feel, I also train my ass off. But if you cheat in Vets you are just a ****.

But I am more talking about the validity of passports in the Pro scene... this guy has shown its not a guarantee.... So what now? The Pros keep saying it works, make me think that of course they will say it works if it isnt but we all think it does.

Is anybody here genuinely surprised by any of this?!?! Seriously, pro cycling is about as clean as it was in lance's hey days. Come on.... Meanda (who!?) of Astana at the Giro.... riding away from Alberto like it was childs play.... Nibali riding up the cols at the Tdf last year without even opening his mouth to breathe... Wiggo breaking the hour record by 5%!!! 5% better than the "EPO days" ..... yeah right. Let common sense dictate here. Cycling ain't clean, never was and never will be.

They should scrap the minimum bike weight limit and introduce a minimum rider weight limit. Lets say a round number like, 80kg.

This will have many benefits, your W/kg would go out the window.

The sprints will be contested by many more riders.

The massive climbs would take them 30% longer, which means more racing to watch.

(This is by no means a real solution, but finding a proper solution does not seem feasible.)

+ I would love to see Froome and Quinatana pack on weight to meet 80kg :P

The tours would have to start earlier in the day to stop the TV live broadcast from infringing on the early evening TV programs, none of this starting at 11 - 12 in the day stuff
