Ah, but that's not true. As with all things, we go by date of manufacture.

a 2015 audi a3 will always be a 2015 model, even if it looks exactly the same as the 2016 one.

Likewise with bicycles. It's the year of manufacture that matters.

But with vehicles it's first registration date. I think some may innocently advertise their wares  here as a particular year model since that is when they store purchased it new... that's not really being unethical.

I don't think ignorance is an excuse.  Even if it is innocent, it is not correct.  A fork purchased in 2016, but manufactured in 2013, has significant differences from a 2016 model.  If you are going to sell on the hub, then it is the seller's responsibility to make sure that the information is correct.  If the seller is unsure of the year model, then state that they are unsure.  What really get's me is when they "innocently" post incorrect information, get corrected by a knowledgeable hubber, and then aggressively attack the one who pointed out the error and insist they are right.

Indeed. I saw a 2015 bike advertised as a 2017. When I pointed this out I was called names etc.

Lets remember its only the internet :P Call people out, if they dont like it, boo hoo. Your comment still stands on their advert. No issue to you.

Thats why I like the hub classifieds, people can discuss the items.

Except when the seller pulls the advert with the comments and then reposts, still with incorrect information

My bad... I should have put bikes as opposed to wares... your points are valid

Another question, what makes a bike "Argus ready" compared to every other day of the year ready?

aaah the Argus bike..... these are a scares breed of bike. Kept in a cadge most of its life and only released just before the argus.

I'd also like to know the answer to that one. Or what about this bike achieved a podium finish at such and such a race. Ummm pretty sure it didn't do that on its own.

Thinking of selling my 'Argus bike' after the 'Argus'. Will keep an eye on the classifies for a '94.7 Ready bike'...
