Duane_Bosch Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 No don't get me into that! I've been obsessively watching wood splitting videos for the last 2 weeks after having successfully broken my addiction to RC rock crawling vids. EddieV and ChrisF 2
Jewbacca Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 I've been obsessed with ultra running including "The Barkley Marathons" ( ) for 4 or 5 years now. Anything that pushes the human limits .... love this stuff !!! .. think I've watched every single video on the Barkley ... ... and anything else that includes the "ultra" in the title .....Now to sign up and do a few!! You live up the road from me, come join me for some adventures! EddieV 1
EddieV Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Now to sign up and do a few!! You live up the road from me, come join me for some adventures! Would love too ... but I would struggle with a 21km trail run now ... earlier the year when i completed the Peninsula marathon to qualify for the Comrades my fitness was much better .... But once my fitness is up again I'll definitely look at some ultra races again. I ran into Philip Boardman while on a morning jog in Kleinmond - he has been my motivation/hero since. He is 60+, but closer to 70 ... not sure ..... but what a legend! https://www.push2extreme.com/single-post/2014/05/10/Marathon-des-Sables-2014-a-journey-by-Philip-Boardman-runner-340 For now my next goal is to complete a full Ironman, and the Comrades 2021 Jewbacca 1

Muizenberg, Pecks Valley, Muizies peak, Steenberg peak then around wherever from there. Drop me a holla. I am going to be doing slow base miles for November/December.... EddieV 1
PhilipV Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 A while back I posted how my wife needs a goal event to be properly motivated to train, and now she has entered us for the 20km Maxi Race in December around stellies. It seems the organizers feel that they can pull it off, I don't care much, as I now have a trail running partner in Wifey. The last time we trained together was before she got pregnant, so I'm lank stoked at having an adventure buddy again.Yesterday we went for a run on about half of what I think the event route could be. 10kms in the mountain above stellies. Yes please. Hopefully I can continue chasing her around the mountains in our area long after the event. Vetplant, Jewbacca, EddieV and 2 others 5

I have it pretty good here, but there are some nice big mountains there and from Jonkers you can get to Franschoek and/or Grabouw pretty easily. Lots of fun to be had!

I ran in the TSSL Paul Cluver race on Sunday, where they had staggered starts throughout the day, from 6am to 12pm. You choose a 1 hour slot to arrive in before the race, then after arriving and having your temperature taken, you start the race at the next 15 minute start time. This seemed to work pretty well and I quite preferred it, very little traffic on the course, no queues for coffee or toilets at the start/finish. I would imagine your race would follow a similar setup. PhilipV and EddieV 2

Especially as people do it for fun for free already. Some even raise money for charity like the guys who ran it 3 weeks ago.
