ok may have 2min of time from all you experienced runners .

i "tried " a easy recovery run this morning and holy molly my legs hatted me after kaaps ( i managed a limped 2km )

am i running again too soon ?

going riding this afternoon as im sure the low impact there will be a bit better on me.

There's a joke from Comrades... the up run limp lasts two days, the down run limp a week. Downhill is helluva hard on the legs, especially gooing it like you did.

Recovery walk to get rid of the lactic or even a bike ride will be great. Recovering properly is important

ODD is the worst race on the calendar. Traffic to the venue is a mess. Late starts . Big trucks and massive traffic congestion with irrate motorist abound.

But I'll do again next year as it's really good Comrades training

If you're looking for psychological warfare, try the Arthur Cresswell. Much smaller field at under 1000. Long, straight roads and hills with no shade to hide under and high temperatures. Water tables only every 5km (that messed with my head badly), and little to no crowd support. Due to the small field over a 52km distance you'll often find yourself running alone. That race beat me up badly this year. Can't wait to go back and make friends with it in 2019.

I got beaten by it when you got to that tar after the dirt... Those last 5km were hard. A very mentally challenging run

Exact point I entered the depths of hell. The single time I've ever sat down in a race. There was one tree in the distance that was the only thing keeping me moving. When I got to it I flopped down in its shade for a full two minutes feeling utterly helpless. Also, when I got to that water point after the dirt road I asked the marshals if I could put my head in the ice bucket, they were kind enough to oblige.

Might be of interest to runners wanting to do the New York marathon.

This year NYCC made 500 virtual entries available at $100/$120 per entry to complete a physical run anywhere in the world and to upload it to Strava within a specified time frame.  Successful completion would have gained you a guaranteed entry for the 2019 NY marathon.

Perhaps keep an eye on this if you want to do it in 2020.

Not yet, that is next on the bucket list, heard great things about RTB as well.

But you can enter RTB now and then enter Dumbe next year on their 3 month payment plan.

Barry hows Skyrun prep going?

Anyone else here running it?

So far so good. I started tapering last week and I'm starting to feel really good now. You know what it's like, though. Your brain turns to mush with paranoia about peaking at the wrong time. But I'm really looking forward to the experience. I'm just going to run it as it comes and enjoy the adventure.

Yoh...ive just checked the costs of Run the Berg...the accommodation is a killer! So think Dumbe itll be...I believe we run up Sollys (Berg n Bush Solly's)...say it isnt so???

I was under the impression RTB also includes the accommodation just like Dumbe? That must be why the one guy told me they stayed at ATKV Drakensville for RTB.

Then it's a no brainer, Dumbe is a real good value for money all inclusive package I think in this day of crazy Trail Race prices. You literally just have to take beer money if you want that.

Edit: I see now RTB entry excludes accommodation and meals.   There that goes off from my to do list...

PS: Yup, there was a Solly's climb as well.

Talking about great value...the Lynford Family weekend must be the best...R950 accommodation, meals x 6, entry and a jacket! Sat run down day 2 of Sani2C, bail at the river crossing (22km) and get a lift to Josephines bridge (30)km, transported back to Lynford.  Sun, 5, 12 or 18 around the Lynford school area.

Same as the Umko Adventure (mtb) R4400 per TEAM, accommodation, garment, goody bag, 5 meals and incredible, real mountain biking, not roady mountain biking...
