Iron Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Don't play running games with old people - Deidre... that 87(?) year old will skop your ass any day of the week! And swimmers , the group of old ballies that swim with us kick our asses every morning in the gym
Frosty Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 How ridiculous is this. If you were planning on doing your long runs on the same day as a sanctioned race..dont. You will be "disciplined"[emoji23]As long as it isn’t a competition then it should be fine... and your long runs mustn’t pass any Strava segments.
Mudsimus Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 As long as it isn’t a competition then it should be fine... and your long runs mustn’t pass any Strava segments.Their heading says long training runs, would love to see this being enforced.
Odinson Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Don't play running games with old people - Deidre... that 87(?) year old will skop your ass any day of the week! Some of these older folks who are lifelong runners have aerobic and endurance capacities that 20,- 30-somethings can only dream of.
Andrew Steer Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Ja, I'm building up as a runner very slowly... hoping to peak at around 70yrs old candz1, Frosty, Stretch and 3 others 6
dave303e Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 For the JHB located, there is a new vibe called trail tuesdays, start and finish at Craft Beer Library Emmarentia, it is a social run up and down the spruit usually an out and back and you just turn at 30mins or at Conrad drive. But it is a good vibe, feels safe with good numbers but no crowds to fight. Craft beer library has a special R70 for a beer and a prego roll with chips afterwards. 5:45 Tuesday night make a plan. The run is technically free, but you are encouraged to donate to the water table afterwards(worth it for some water and banana at the finish and they have organised this as an event) Andrew Steer, Barry Stuart, ScottCM and 2 others 5

amr63 Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 How ridiculous is this. If you were planning on doing your long runs on the same day as a sanctioned race..dont. You will be "disciplined"It’s not clear to me whether this pertains toa. runners using the same route & facilities laid on by an organized race for their (long run) training without entering the race; orb. clubs organising club long runs on the same route as an organized race; orc. clubs organising club long runs on a different route but in ‘competition’ to an organized race. In my view, a & b must be managed if we want clubs to continue organising appropriately priced, safe & quality events; if c is a ‘thing’ then the leadership of the affected clubs need to get together to resolve it.
Pieter-za Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Anybody have more on this? http://agn.co.za/joomla/index.php/road-running-home/road-running-fixtures Originally the Bronkhorstspruit races on 9 February and the Sunrise Monster races on 2 March were allocated league status. However both these races were not prepared to abide by the AGN rules for league races and the AGN Road Running Commission decided to cancel both of them as league races. The Commission further decided not to replace the Bronkhorstspruit race with another race in February as a league race. The Sunrise Monster race was however replaced by the Kolonnade road race (32km & 15km) on 30 March as a league race. The league system of AGN will be further discussed at the next AGN Management meeting scheduled for 14 March 2019.
Fruity Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Started a Foundation programme on Monday, and so far so good. It's a few runs during the week, with some core and resistance work as well, with two rest days. Starting right at the beginning as I need to improve on my running fitness - need to get a better time at the next 10km event, and then eventually work my way up to do a 21km. Wanting to lose more weight in the process. Hacc 1
Odinson Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Anyone here who can recommend running specific undies?
Paddaman Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 How ridiculous is this. If you were planning on doing your long runs on the same day as a sanctioned race..dont. You will be "disciplined"No more park runs and trail runs........
SwissVan Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Anyone here who can recommend running specific undies? Sorry have to ask....why?Wait, no maybe rather don't answer that In all my years of running, never heard this one, or even seen specific running undies... Lexx, Andrew Steer, Fruity and 1 other 4
PhilipV Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Anyone here who can recommend running specific undies?I've found using running shorts with a built-in liner to be the best. Then you don't wear undies. If you are experiencing chafing, then tights are the best. Andrew Steer, Mats and Odinson 3
Ronniek Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Sorry have to ask....why?Wait, no maybe rather don't answer that In all my years of running, never heard this one, or even seen specific running undies...I made the mistake when starting out running wearing boxers under my shorts. Did not work that well [emoji2363]
