Barry Stuart Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I would say 'Good luck' to all runners but that belies the preparation and achievement of earning a good run. I wish everyone a great run, regardless of your aims. Most importantly, ENJOY! No question there's an element of luck required as well, though! Thanks, Jewbacca. Jewbacca 1
Iron Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I have done Wolkberg twice, the only reason i am not racing is because it clashes with Itera in Scotland this year. I have only done the challenge option 40/20km. The run is epic, the first 15km is a big climb up to the iron crown and then epic flowing trails from there back to the school. The 2nd day is even better in terms of flowing beautiful trails. and forests and cheerio gardens. Not to mention the beer station en route. In terms of the packages. Take the shared dorm option, I think it includes all food and really the school dorms are very comfortable and convenient. Value for money it is really unbeatable, 2550 food, accom, and an epic race. It should be on every trail runner's to do list. *edit Don't forget to stop by zwakala and do some carbo loading....lekker , thanks so much
soslow Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 All the best to all you crazies doing comrades on Sunday. Weather looks good, so get out there and give it horns.
Lexx Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 So no Russian athletes are allowed to run Conrades this year. Why couldn't CMA mailed them couple of weeks ago already instead of telling them at the expo they are banned to run. Jeez, that's just bad. Or rather ASA.

Thats shocking. Its not like ASA decided this morning to not allow them.(Or did they...?!) Lexx 1
Lexx Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Prob this morning. Lol. This a big embarrassment for CMA. Pulse 1
Pulse Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Prob this morning. Lol. This a big embarrassment for CMA.With this, and the whole broadcasting/SABC saga, CMA has really seen the worst of ASA this year Lexx 1
dave303e Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Half of the comrades records are held by people representing a country that was banned from winter olympics, and banned from track and field by the IAAF. He can be skeptical if he wants to surely? They have also changed comrades route so records don't count. brings us back to a conversation from weeks ago........

Why couldn't CMA mailed them couple of weeks ago already instead of telling them at the expo they are banned to run. Jeez, that's just bad. Or rather ASA.They were all standing around at the expo, not looking very impressed. Some were even allowed to get their race packs before being told they cant run. GSNieP and Lexx 2
Mudsimus Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 How is the Expo this year? One guy said its the worst one in years?Im going to climb on the rant wagon. Im a novice, and was really looking forward to getting some nice official Comrades gear. There was absolutely NOTHING. Unless you wear XL. No other sizes available. The cheap iron label would probably come of after one wash as well. That said the shirt in the goodie bag is really nice quality. Lexx 1
Stretch Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Don't forget to buy a pair of slops from my mate... And some anatomic kit from Andrew Andrew Steer 1
Jaws677 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Comrades number collection was quick and efficient , in and out. Spotted Gerda in the same hotel. Nerves starting to build. Looking forward to Sunday Have a great race guys and girls Lexx, Andrew Steer, Hacc and 1 other 4

No I wonder why he doesn't do some research firts before posting these " challenges" I suspect he knows he wount make but he is doing it to get more attention. If he said 90minutes and made it he would get some respect. Now he will definitely fail and look like a complete chop. Writing that I wondered how I sound putting my ass on the line for a sub 9 comrades knowing my body is really only good for a sub 10 Edited June 8, 2019 by Jaws677 Lexx 1

HmmmI train with some dedicated, talented runners and I can see how hard they have train to maintain sub 90min 21km timesAnd that includes longer weekend runs Edited June 8, 2019 by Jaws677
