Stretch Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Nice little surprise in the post Lexx, ScottCM, b-rad and 3 others 6
Edgar Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Anyone have any experience with these? I am looking for a light off-road running shoe. Not hardcore trails. More running on paths and sand. Need something with more traction than a road shoe. Currently use the 4% for road running. Adjustments.JPG Used them a little - I don't run trail - very comfortable. Feel like your road shoes with grip Wayne Potgieter 1
gifs Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 I see Jim Walmsley is also on the Comrades 2020 start list. Pieter-za 1
Andrew Steer Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Good luck to everyone doing Soweto and Kaapsehoop... hope it's a cool one Frosty and shaper 2
Christian van Zyl Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 I see Jim Walmsley is also on the Comrades 2020 start list. Will be awesome to see some celebrity runners at the Comrades! Jim is a machine... wonder if he can take the win. Or a course record
gifs Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Good luck to everyone doing Soweto and Kaapsehoop... hope it's a cool one Unfortunately it looks like the "cool" weather will pass through before Soweto on Sunday.
Mudsimus Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Jim is a machine... wonder if he can take the win. Or a course record No chance in hell. His 50 mile world record is 4s/km off Comrades record pace, on a pancake course, and he was absolutely knackered. Gatebe ran a much faster 50mile during his 5h18 Comrades. I don't see Walmsley finishing top 10.

Or a course record I think Hoka trying to crack the road ultra scene might be a lot of the driving factor. But watch Walmsley in a few years time. He is a student of races, He will no doubt go out early harder than the rest and likely blow up, you can also be sure he will be looking at record or dnf. But like Western states he will keep at and it will be entertaining to watch. It will certainly bring more international attention to the race which in the long run(get it) will be good for the race in general. Christian van Zyl 1
Jewbacca Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Jewbacca, I'd normally say the same, or Peregrines, but AFAIK the 4% is 10mm drop, which is a bit far off the 0 drop Altra or the 4mm of the Peregrine to just chop and change. But there may be more flexible people in that regard than me. Hmm I suppose so. I've been running/hiking/adventuring in flat/barefoot shoes for so long that I forget it's not practical across the board. I just got some Superior 4's as I'm stepping away from AR for a while to concentrate on the wife and kid and work and will 'run' more than fastpack. My King MT's are awesome too but a little too low stacked and high lugged for 100 milers. Perfect for 5-35km jogs around the technical parts of TM though!

Although probably wouldn't count because of the down run Edited November 1, 2019 by Stretch

Mudsimus Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Will we ever see Gatebe at WS100 do you think?Personally I don't think we will see Gatebe anywhere anymore. WS needs a strong runner, not necessarily a fast one. I don't think its a race any of the Comrades contenders will attempt.
b-rad Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Will we ever see Gatebe at WS100 do you think? The prize money at most of the ultra trail runs is nothing like that on offer at Comrades.
seven Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 So Comrades entries are sold out... I’ll just have to wait for next year to pick one up...
