Just remember we are in their territory. Stop and wait for it to finish crossing the path. Summer is aproaching so there will surely be plenty of snake encounters.

More often than not they are lying on paths to warm up in the sun, not to get to the other side. Could be a long wait.

Ha ha ha Funny Grant.

Ok, if you come and visit me again, i will take you to those Mamba's   :whistling:  :w00t:

Trust me...I would scream like a girl if I saw a 2m mamba standing up in front of me :nuke:

See you early next year for a mamba ride in Kaalrug mountains...

So it seems lightning fast reflexes and a spot of luck is the answer. The puffy I saw was a beautiful specimen, it even turned its head to look at me when I made my ridiculous stop-and-starting-running-in-the-opposite-direction move. Its nice to observe and appreciate these creatures, from a distance....

Yes sometimes a little bit of encouragement with a long stick is required.

Just had the guts to take a pic of this one on a recent ride... Told it is a bergadder as i did not recognized the specie. Luckily this oukie just lied still and did not move but the cape cobras i've encountered before are not oukies that like to pose for a photo...

Ja . The geelslange here are also lank agro. Always pose for a pic. Puffies are very lazy but stand their ground. Geelslang poses

and ten moves along fast.

I fear a geelslang move because they are to uptight and hyper

We bumped into a little Cobra at Hoogekraal last weekend, a rather feisty little bugger as well. Fortunately we were all standing still having a pow wow while he casually sauntered past, hood in the air... Yoh, I have to admit my ride was a lot more cautious after that.

I've actually ridden over a Puffy before while TTing on my road bike but I was over him before he or I realised what had happened. And I've been over a 2m long mole snake before on my dirtbike that had me screeming like a girl (at the time I thought it was a monster Cobra). It didn't help I binned the bike at the same time and almost landed on the snake. Needless to say, no one offered to help pick up the bike.

If I encounter one on the trails that I can't avoid, I can promise you that the ensueing bunny hop will look like a launch off a Table Top jump.
