Can the Vitality masters please help me on this one?

I want to purchase a new Polar Watch AND a Polar H10 heart rate strap separately.

Will I be able to use both as a bundle for my Device Booster?

Thanks in advance.

Nope, only specific devices as stipulated by discovery qualify for the booster, no exception or custom bundling.

So you could buy the M200 or whatever as your booster device and the H10 as a normal vitality sports device.

As Remi said, NO. If you do still want the strap, you may want to wait a month so that you can get cash back on that too. Vitality only pays cash back up to purchases up to R4k per family. Have you done the fitness assessment?

Booster is a separate benefit from the vitality sports benefit, you will continue to get max cash back on the up to R2000/pm for normal sports shopping.

I both called to confirm and tested this myself, the month I purchased my Garmin I got 2 vitality sports payments into my account, the 1k for the watch and a few hundred for the other **** I bought.

Payouts max's are based on a per benefit not a per family/policy across all benefits.

With the Apple watch 4 being announced and available soon in SA, how long does it take for Discovery to add the new devices to their program

Thanks

Our Medical Aid consultants at work told me that Discovery is today launching all their stuff for 2019.

Any inside scoop on what is NEW?

Maybe mecheng89 can share the PDF he shared on our club Whatsapp group. I’d do it, but I can’t upload attachments using Tapatalk.

Any inside scoop on what is NEW?

9.2% weighted average increase. Changes to the VAR side of things - no more spinny thing, now a "game-board" with tiles where you select a tile to get your reward, which can now be banked for up to 12 weeks and stacked with other rewards (allows access to higher-tier rewards as well, if you don't want instant gratification)

Improvements to oncology treatment on comprehensive & executive, to allow coverage for cutting edge / new treatments either in full or with a co-payment.

Doing away with lowest band on Keycare, due to extreme anti-selection. Lower tier members will have to elect for a new plan, Keycare Starter (basic plan) or go to the mid or high-income band.

ATB benefits increasing by 11.9%

Cap on the amount of points from steps, trying to get more people active. Now max 1,200 points per month from steps.

Still 30,000 points max for fitness activities.

Screening checks changing slightly - more attention being placed on higher-risk items (people outside the Norm) and will be getting points based on how many you hit, and how bad your out-of-range readings are. Min 10,000 points for a screening check. If you hit all the markers and do HIV and non smoking declaration, instant silver status.

Apple Watch 4 will probably be covered under apple watch benefit when it's launched locally. Probably.

Dischem & Clicks are still DSP for chronic, day surgery hospitals will be DSP for procedures which can be carried out at a day surgery, due to efficiency & quality of care that happens there.

Discovery gap cover enhanced slightly, still not as good as other gap providers.

There is more, but I need to read the stuff in order to get the proper detail and analyse information.

I see Gym visits must be 30 minutes to get 100 points - no more swipe and go

They say we members like this "gaming stuff..." - they might as well open a casino.

How are they going to monitor that?

I haven't been to Virgin Active in 6 years, how would they confirm that, do you swipe on the way out as well now?

I guess they will make you swipe on the way out as well - at this stage nobody swipes out.

Have seen plenty people just handing over the card for a swipe without even going through the turnstiles.

I like the accumulation of reward points to get a better reward. The smoothie was nice, but I won’t miss it if I would get something more meaningful, or something that lasts longer.

Example:

1 smoothie = R35

12 weeks = R420

A t-shirt from SWH or Totalsports costs R399, but can be worn for many months.

Adding the insure reward points means the value could double to R840.

bit off topic, why polar

I want a product that I can use for running and cycling, decent quality but not too expensive and able to sync to Strava in some way. I have been using Polar my whole life and to this date had zero issues. So I see the Polar M430 at about R 3 000 as a good option, would you recommend something else in the price range? I really do not care about all the bells and whistles as that is about all I need for it to do.
