It's a bike race for some, a mental or physical challenge for others and then there are those who are out to have a good time..

In the word of Al Jourgenson - So what?

Be greatful God damn it.

R500 is a winner for what you get. Lucky packet race pack, open road all day, dedicated expo, mucho exposure CT tourism

It's one day out of 365. Let live and let love

26 Arguses - no special invite for me.

Maybe get in touch with club 21 and check they have your details. A friend of mine also never got the special invite email only to find he had mistakenly unsubscribed himself a while ago and forgot that he did it.

PM me if you need the chairman's details.

Admit it, you pay more to service your bike and that money just makes the LBS rich, it does not go to charities.

I am so fed up with people moaning about how expensive rides are. Get your priorities straight.

500 bucks is an annual permit to jonkershoek. One cycle around the Peninsula vs ride anytime at jonkers... Value for money right there.

What I dont get about people complaining about the price, it is like they are forced to enter. FOMO kicks in and they HAVE to enter. You have a choice, either ride or dont ride. Spend your money on this or something else.

If you dont like the price then dont enter. You have a choice to enter or not enter. Simple.

Apples, oranges? Since we're talking groceries, R500 is perhaps half a Woollies bag full of the stuff if you are lucky, and then not if you have fillet or lamb chops in there! Whichever way you look at it, both are bargains.

Jonkerhoek is for posers. R500 also gets you a year permit to Bottelary. Still does not say anything.

It's that kind of attitude that led to the death of TransKaroo.

The Jock Tour was R4250 for three days, more than R1k a day and no road closures. R510 is a bargain, should have been around R650.

Even at R1000 the international entry is a bargain at 57 pounds.

I've done my fair share of cycle tours, and it's "money spent on cycling activities, be it for one day or any given sunday". So fruit, I guess, to clump them together. I'm totally open to do whatever you want to do with your money. I just think that R500 is just some psychological tipping point for me. Having said that, I'll happily pay R1150 (or whatever it costs this year) to do the origin of trails (2 day stage race). So disregard everything I've said, my opinion is worthless.

I wasn't trying to give you stick, and your opinion as worth exactly the same as mine. :)
