This picture clearly shows the undisputed living legend of the Tour

What are the chances that the appeal will result in Sagan being allowed to continue?

Has a disqualification ever been overturned in the tour's history?

A smaller number of journo/camera types, than I would have expected. Is that a typical number for the TdF?

This picture clearly shows Cavendish trying to squeeze through a gap that wasnt really there. He leans on Sagan. Sagan regains balance by using elbows up. Knees in etc.

I call Sagan not guilty of anything

cool pic, it looks like Cav is leaning on his best mate posing for a pic.

Hey, anyone know why Demare had no FDJ branding on the biggest tricolor skin suit ever? Wonder if FDJ are peed about that.

Its apparently all about the Tricolor suit being pure and a symbol and not to be branded with Logo's-Blah Blah....  French -always a flair for the dramatic. Meanwhile behind him Sagan: the walking billboard.

On another note this is playing havoc with my Fantasy League Team-First Valverde and now Sagan, my team is cursed.

The gap was there seconds before... But I saw that elbow more of a way to push off an already falling rider than anything else. In one of the (many) slo-mo replays it looks very much like Sagan's foot/pedal touched Cav's front wheel and caused the fall.

Sagan: I can only accept the choice of the jury. I don't agree with it. I hope Cavendish will be okay soon #TDF2017

I the car and gone. .

Journos on the tour are generally all over.. a lot would be getting themselves to the start while others will be making their way to the finish logistics are quite difficult.

A quick question for those with better rider knowledge, and perhaps a bit of a conspiracy on my part, but does the DQ of Sagan help perhaps a frenchman like Demare or Bouhanni regain the green jersey for the French?

I also thought that this morning. Demare does seem to be in really good form and we know the French love their own ;P

Seriously? So was he supposed to rather lean on the barriers first? Look what happened when he eventually had no choice and kissed the barriers

Terrible to see two great sprinters leave so early in the race.

Please can people stop posting single frames saying "this picture clearly shows..." No picture in isolation shows anything! There are 50 different stories to be told if any one picture is chosen. Only the multiple video angles in entirety tell us the story, and even then, there's stuff we're oblivious to.

No you're absolutely right. Which is why I've gone through the trouble of putting two angles into the images below.

Kristoff is the first to break out of the slipstream and Bouhanni starts to follow

Kristoff pulls up along Greipel and Demare starts his move, with Sagan still behind Kristoff unaware of the move behind

Demare starts to pull up along Sagan, Cavendish not really following either wheel at this point

Bouhanni starts his move on Kristoff, whilst Demare pulls level with Sagan. Cavendish follows Demare

Demare puts the hammer down and powers past Sagan, Sagan realises as he looks to his right that he needs to follow and at this point there is no-one beside him.
