Who is rider 141-2? Sitting 22nd overall. Name sounds familiar. Trying to remember where I know the name from.

O wait, he was bust for drugs. I thought this race had some strict zero tolerance rule???? Correct me if am wrong.

After a certain date yes, his also as with Hincapie's doping is before it.

But wasn't it his positive that actually lead to the no tolerance clause..if so..it's really ironic..

Depends when he was bust? If it was before Kev made the ruling it's fine, only riders bust subsequently are banned for life.

The reason I asked is I am thinking the same as Gen. It was when this oke got bust that the rule got put into place.

I can't remember exactly when he was bust. Will try find out quickly. When was the rule put into place?

EDIT: he tested positive on 29th August 2012. Was on the EPIC podium that year as well.

Ariane hasn't been herself for a while... hopefully she bounces back soon. Might just need a break, think there has been a fair bit going on off the bike too distraction wise. Bloody classy athlete, I am sure she will be back.

Emotional stress can play a big part in your physical performances.

Personally I just think the reason behind her below par performance isn't so much that she is not strong and yes she is a very classy athlete but never been the strongest in her team, it is that the changes to the ladies race has resulted in stronger teams being able to combine for the epic and the introduction of their own start batch also means that they would've had to adapt and have a different race strategy.

Had Jennie not had her heart problems last year it was looking like it was going to be a very different race.

Obviously I don't know her, I am sure she is a nice person and would never even attempt to understand what's going on off the bike and how it could be affecting her on the bike.

I reckon watch Nino and Sternimann next year.. the youngster is getting some much needed experience this year.

dunno. 2017 is a year after the olympics. pretty sure he will be lining it up as a year to really go for Epic. He did ride a few events for Scott on the road in 2014, BUT i think all focus will shift to defending his olympic title in tokyo from next year. He will do epic, he comes here to train anyway, but won't necessarily be going for the win like this year.

ha ha, thing is he is 41 and could be winning the masters cat (as could susi) maybe he should team up with Cuddles and go for the masters cat in 2018. Imagine that, Evans and George win the Cape Epic?!

I actually think I read an interview with Nino that this year is chance to give Sternimann some epic experience and then come back in 2018 to go for the GC win.

They implemented it from Jan 2013.

At the pre-event press conference Nino played down aspirations of a win this year, saying that this year is more of a recon for him and Stirnemann ahead of a proper go at the overall in 2018.

But if Stirnemann can find his feet this year who knows...

I hope every one is booing and shouting doper every time Hincapie gets up on the stage :D

Eldron we need you!

Sadly I'm not there to yell DOPER at the two George's. I still can't believe those two have the stones to show their faces at a bike race.

ABSA will never again see a cent of my money thanks their sponsoring dopers.
