Motorists: Different levels of retardedness

try putting on your indicator when you need to change lanes in peak hour traffic. These morons come zooming between the cars at a snot-speed and norrefok will they allow you to change lanes no matter how long your indicator has been on.

Seriously how do you expect me to go from 220 to 60 if you want to turn ? That is why I am going that fast , so I can zip past you giving you the opportunity to execute your turning maneuver when I am out of your way and long gone .

To be honest tough, I messed up on Sunday's ride at a traffic light. I looked at the other direction's lights, and it appeared to be red which should mean that the light for me should turn green any second.

Turns out it was just the early morning sunlight catching the red light in a way that made it look as if it was already red, and I ended up "another cyclist who doesn't follow the rules" :(

Felt like a poephol, and rightly so.

First there was the township traffic circle in Hout Bay where an informal taxi ( A Tazz! ) turned across my path as I kept left just after exiting the circle.

All this in a highly visible green cycle top and a bright flashing front light.

You mean a bit like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYX4rAnJ5Po

I can't believe I didn't swear and perform at him. My ex wife would not recognise me. Apparently.

I could not be more visible on the road, lumo yellow shirt with red #staywider slogan, lumo pink helmet and a flashing LED #fly6 rear light HD camera.

Not just at traffic lights, sadly!

I regularly see people, especially younger drivers, looking down at the phone held somewhere for seconds WHILE DRIVING... Seriously?!

"Oh no, driving while talking on the phone is illegal, let's do something even more dangerous" - you can LOL at your BFF when you've stopped, kiddie!

Strangely I see just as many older people (mostly woman) texting whilst driving.

What grinds my gears even more is people who have the phone on speaker in front of their faces. This does and mean nothing other than making you look like a ******* moron.

I feel offended and triggered by the use of the word "retardedness" in the thread title.

This is a violation of my safe space here in bikehub.

Admin, please post a trigger warning on here.

with all the carnage going on is this really the best comment you can make?

FFS cyclists are being KILLED and you make snotty little comments.

I suggest you go back to garage, dust off your clubs and go back to golfing.

eat a cookie, clearly blood sugar is low

I'm on a "be courteous" trip at the moment and thanking - greeting - acknowledging - motorists.

Ja same. Well I'm always painfully aware that 98% of motorist are expecting me to confirm their world view on cyclists. So I always stop at the lights. (Don't even track stand coz that seems to give motorists the shirts too)

Also when coming from Noordhoek on Chappies I signal cars when they can overtake. I even got a dankie on Sunday. Almost fell over the edge.

So riding down the road the other day and have to turn right into a side road so i move to the right of my lane, on my side of the dotted line ,with my arm out signaling right turn and wait for the oncoming car to pass so i can turn ...the approaching  car stops next to me  and this little grey headed old lady shouts out of the window...

" You bloody cyclists aren't allowed in the middle of the road"
