Anyone using Zwift?

Zwift is notoriously bad at updating. Uninstalling and reinstalling should help. Are you getting any error codes, Z113 by any chance?

Nope. No error messages at all. Just endless update indicating completion in excess of 1000 minutes. 2wielitjies has been kind enough to offer some help. Will call him soon just getting through some Xmas functions.

Sure there must be a Zwift topic somewhere but wondering how many hubbers are on Zwift and ride regularly? I've spotted a few South African flags while riding on Zwift but it would be cool to know if there are who would like to organise a few rides on Zwift and ride together more regularly?

 

I've been getting into the playform more and more and have also taken up a few races. But would be keen to ride with a few saffas every now and then.

 

Also, anyone taking on the Tour of Watopia starting on Sunday?

I have not read all the previous post. But for those of you looking to start Zwifting I recently got the Apple TV 4k and works effortlessly. For under R3000 for the 32gb version and everything works seemlessly.

Is the 4 k required. I have an older HDMI Apple TV which i was wanting to use for it - just wanting to check whether Zwift supports 4K or is it because the 4K Apple TV can run apps and you are running ZWIFT on the Apple TV? Is the 4k required or do you think the HDMI will suffice

As far as I know you need an Apple TV 4th generation or newer. Essentially, if it's in your app store it should work. It will run over HDMI, but at 1080p, not 4K.

4K not required, I simply run the 4'th generation Apple TV.

You should be able to screen-share from a Mac to the apple TV.

A question, not related directly to Zwift (mostly because it's not available on Android):

I have a Tacx Vortex Smart, which I use with my road bike. Now, wifey (who prefers walking/running) hurt her knee a bit with something, and I've put her MTB on the trainer with a cheap slick tyre.

 

Her MTB is a 26-inch though, so to change between her and my bike on the trainer involves pretty much disassembling the trainer.

To avoid this, would a cheap 29-inch MTB rear wheel with a trainer tyre be close enough to a road wheel that I could just leave the trainer on one setting?

How do i get the data fed from my HR strap to the Zwift app? I see there is the Tickr HR belt - does bluetooth work as the synch mechanism from the belt to the laptop or wherever you are running Zwift or do you need to use ANT+. If so i assume a USB based  ANT+dongle is required.

 

Any recommendations on this piece of the setup?

I think you can use ant+ and BT at the same time. You'll just need to pair accordingly. I have a dongle that does both BT and ant+, but ant+ seems to have fewer dropouts. I've subsequently disabled BT on my PC.

Stupid question. I run Zwift on the Mac with a Kickr Snap. The Mac just receives Bluetooth but my heartrate monitor is a Garmin which obviously does ant +. I'm assuming I need a ant+ dongle and have found a few online but just want to check that this is the actual solution?
