Totally agree on the tap water aspect...

I buy / keep bottled water (over beer/wine/softdrinks, mainly 5l Nestle due to economy of scale) and can honestly say, whilst i will drink tap water I can taste the difference, especially during meal time when I down a few tall ones.

You can also get 20l Nestle in those chilled server thingies, they could have had those at least.

Nestle water tastes like it has hand cream in it....

Its okay for me, better imo that Tit-sokama or any local mineral water and I have tried most. I used to drink Italian mineral water back in the "stationery account' days  - and much better compared to tap water, at least here where I live with loads of dodgy municipal plumbing.  But taste is a subjective thing.

Point is that they could have provisioned 20l chillers with something like that

Nah, they will just charge you corkage

I'm surprised the bike manufacturers don't have to pay license fees for each bike of theirs that is ridden in the epic.

They have in previous Epics refused to allow you to bring wine into the dining tent - but they had it on the sponsors tables....

... We can all do our part and stop paying for water. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with tap water.

Just the slightest impurity in the water and you have a sh!t storm on your hands. Gone are the days where we used to have good clean drinking water from taps. Most of our blue drop certifications were recalled.

You can take that chance at home but at R4500 something a day you need to play it safe.
