For the veterans of the cycle tour, has the expo always being so boring ?

I was hoping to see amazing deals....fantastic new bikes on display

I was hoping to buy new shoes but there was nothing decent available or on sale

The Expo was meh...

Being my first time, I expected new tech and bikes. Fair enough, who will buy a new bike before the race?

Prices were okay, not mind-blowing at all.

Bought some gels from GU.

I did enjoy the free smoothie by cycling the smoothie bike for the 30s.

The expo could be fantastic if it weren't at the stadium. That ghastly flourescent light, the sense of being underground, the cacophony of so much noise in too confined a space means that being there is unpleasant.

I was there early, visited my bikefit guru at his stand to take care of a bad case of cleat paranoioa and possibly psychosomatic knee problem, bought 2 bibs on special cos i knew what i wanted and where it was and was back in the bike parking area trying to remember what I'd done with my sticker without being too traumatised.

As I say it's not too bad the expo but could be so much better.

You wont buy a bike before but you might want one after.... if they had models on display or salespeople selling they could entice you into upgrading

As an example I like trek bicycles and would like my next bike to be one I heard that they were gonna be there and they only had 2 bikes on display and 2000 water bottles ..... that's just sad

Versus socks was R125 my local bicycle shop is selling them for R75

I'm not "moaning" but when you hear the word expo you expect to be blown away by things on show

the most amazing part of the expo is walking around the cordoned off field.everyone taking pics of it along the way!

Never thought I'd say this, but bring back the Good Hope Centre. LOL

We were all excited when we first heard about the move from there, but this hasn't delivered on expectation.

Traffic getting there @ 5pm this eve killed my spirit, and unfortunately the expo had little to resurrect it.

The congested, market style setup of the stands just isn't very pleasant imo.

On a positive note, wind seems to be settling down. :)

Very bad news for me, I'll be sitting out this year.

Had a nasty crash last weekend and broke part of my scapula. Already had surgery to put it together, but no riding for 8 weeks. I've decided to not get depressed about it because it was close enough that both D and I are happy that we are around at all, thanks to a very sharp driver who managed to swerve incredibly quickly to avoid us as we fell in front of him. D is ok and will still ride come Sunday as part of a reduced team DJR. Both bikes are fine but Red Riding Hood needs some tlc and D needs a new saddle.

At least in the grand scheme of things you’re ok and there’s another ctct in 2020 - heal up soon
