I am sure Cris SNR is was reading the thread this afternoon while he was driving from Meerendal towards Durbaville.

What else would be sooooooo important that you can be on your phone texting while driving?

Checking to see if Cyclelab had actually paid yet....

I think it's more than that, they judge you as you walk in. I've walked into CWC and spent a while on my own with no salesmen coming to see what I wanted/needed I've managed to walk right around the store and sometimes a salesman will come and ask if I'm ok?? Other times they don't bother.

True that. I was browsing around a while ago. Looking at the Santa Cruz Tallboy frames. Eventually a salesperson comes round and asks if I needed help. I asked him whether they sell the frame only or can build up a bike to spec. His response: "Oh but these bikes are very expensive". That was all. I was actually pretty pi$$3d seeing that I already ride a Tallboy, albeit an older one and was actually thinking of upgrading.

So screw them...Arrogant twats. I will sometimes buy small things from them as they are conveniently close to where I live, but for the bigger items and proper workshop service I will use my other LBS of choice. They offer great service and bend over backwards...

oh my oh my, how the wheel has turned.

Where are the days that if anyone said anything negative about CWC service they would be pitchforked before the 12 noon?

Now everyone seems to be complaining. And it is ok.

Wayne "the man" may have been right all along.

True - the OP would have been bashed for being a one post wonder abusing the hub to make a stupid complaint about CWC - a bit sad to see how things changed re CWC. Personally haven't had any issues with them but have never bought a bike there.

And your other LBS knows you can afford an upgrade!!

Last time I ranted about the bad service, I was "invited" for coffee.

I declined, as I have proper coffee at work / home. I have reached a point where I just don't give a rat's-arse.

I have found and support other LBS

Do we have a fred where we can recommend our LBS.

I am curious to who you are using now. I know the one is running a fun ride online special at this stage.

Not entirely sure my LBS will thank me for exposing them to the bikehub mob...

I'm going to go against the flow here.

Had a small mishap with my new bike, which destroyed the rear derailer.

CWC had the derailer I needed in stock, at well below the quoted price from all the other shops I phoned (even the local distributor) Asked them to keep it aside for me, for collection.

I popped in over lunch, and lo and behold, they indeed had in stock what I needed (and exactly what they advertised). Payed for the item with a smile, after receiving a further Tygerberg Mountain Bike Club discount, on that already low price.

I left the shop with a great big grin, and a swing in my step (Even got a handshake from Oom Chris on the way out)

So CWC is not all doom and gloom. AND NO, THEY ARE NOT MY PREFERRED LBS.

Lightly off topic, a few years back i go into (tv and hifi shop) to buy walkie talkies for our security. Stood at the counter for around half an hour before one of the many assistants that zoomed past me stopped. Asked him to show me the one i was interested in. Then ask if they had 10 available. Told him I will be back and left.

Then went ahead and emailed management. Got a rude reply a week later about how they saw me standing around, and they verified with the cctv. They aslo wantd to know if i was still interested in the items. Replied and said its a sad day if you need me to verify your security footage because of poor staff. But thanks, i bought 30 somewhere else.

Please don't raise your voice like that, sir. This is a civilized forum.

Not surprised, I have mentioned my dissatisfaction with CWC on a few threads, I received a PM message from Chris S about it and replied giving reasons as well as pointing out current issues with their web and how its displayed, expecting Chris S to reply I instead get passed onto Chris J which in itself is OK, just would have expected S to let me know he was delegating it.

Jnr is the on-line guy and Snr is the bricks and mortar guy .... passing you onto Jnr was the right thing to do as this is his business side of things.
