The final 20km was also the final 20km of the old route though...

Oh - I'm confusing it with the other one that goes up vissers but at the end?

That's the old old route. 👀
The route we were going to do was the normal Tour de PPA route.

No replacement climb sadly, so no real climb on the entire route.
Still wrapping my head around how this race might unfold...

pure savage pulling on the front from the gun.

Rear facing camera films SAturn 5 stage 1 separation and debris from firing the explosive bolts

silence and coasting. Wheel suckers are grateful

PUre Savage fires stage 2. Wheel suckers wished they had fewer pork pies over Christmas.

Puer Savage leads till the final 50m when Uber wheel sucker takes the win

Final 10km (more or less) yes - but the end of Kalbaskraal road & stretch on the Philadelphia road leading up to it also a drag with some steep rollers

Also confused. I've done two 99ers in the past (2017 and 2018) and the last 10km included vissers and this other shorter, very nasty climb to the finish line.

Last time 99er was held we had changed to the PPA route with Vissershok first, and we were going to do that route this year, but now we are doing a downhill tailwind warm-up in the opening kilometers.

All good. Just semantics. To me the "old route" is the one where the last 10km included vissers followed by whatever-that-other-climb was where I wanted to cry but school kids were watching.

i know right. it did help. i went to go cry in the parkie at the "top" though. I then realised I still had to ride home to the inlaws place 5km away and that i still had a few 100m of climbing to do if I wanted to get there...never mind the neutral zone for my free coke....

I still feel this route is easier than the one coming up Adderley. Honestly, i think people are underestimating that last 10Km rolling hills. If the wind plays its part which it most likely will, we are all going to kuk with that crosswinds. Some of my worst days on a bike has been up that road. Give me vissershok rather any day of the week.

PROs, any course is hard depends how hard you go. 😷

Really appreciative that safety is held as the highest value. We are amateurs, some with high performance standards, and let us do the best with what we have.

LOL! I think these okes are using some funny seeding method. They still using my Val die Vie MTB Race for Seeding right now.

Good point - even if you got dropped on Vissershok (on the pre-2020 route), its right at the finish. So its not as if you have to do a long solo TT afterwards.

Think it will very much depend on the bunch you are in on the day - if the okes upfront are lazy then it will be a relatively easy ride up to D'Urbanvale, but if there are lots of attempted breakaways the group is going to scatter.
