Back in the day when we were riding 6 sprockets on the back and all were fixed together and the freebody screwed into the hub it the sprockets were call a sprocket set.

Then Shimano came up with a system where we could change an individual sprocket to tailor the gear ratios to your own liking it became known as a Sprocket cluster. at the same time the freebody was built into the hub and a 7th sprocket added. So "cluster" became the generic name. This goes back to the mid to late 80's Or BM (before Millennials)

The lower cage is a Jockey pully cage and the wheels are jockey pulley wheels. These are accepted engineering terms. However the whole assembly is a Derailleur so there's that :)

Was about to say that if you don't know what a ‘cluster’ is it might be seen as proof of how long (or short) you have been messing about with bicycles ☺️

Also, tyres vs tires are both acceptable depending on which side of the Atlantic ocean you find yourself. The ‘Muricans probably think pushing a round rubber thing along makes you too tired so they called a TYRE that instead lol

Either way, it drives me mad when the muppets refer to tyre threads as opposed to treads

I see the muppets in the classifieds here have all settled on Square Tapped instead of square tapered. In fact a search in the Drivetrain section reveals not a single square taper BB for sale. Many tapped ones though.

As long as it is pronounced like ‘tappet’...ill allow it for laughs

OMG yes i hate a tyre thread %... FFS it doesnt even make sense.

Well...the TPI number referenced on the sidewall of most mtb tyres says otherwise haha. “Threads per inch” ????
