Bike was found on Facebook marketplace and pointed out to the OP, who has yet to provide any sort of feedback as to what happens next. I had a bike stolen years ago. I bought the bike back from the person who was riding it. Long story but someone I know saw the bike being ridden and I was going to Nigeria the next day so I organized to buy the bike back. I reported the recovery to the insurance co who promptly came to my house to collect what was by then their bike as I'd been paid out. So doosie over here was out of pocket and inadvertently contributed to the bike theft problem. Not my cleverest moment but I was in love with that bike. Eugene Posted September 14, 2022 Share 11 hours ago, AkwA said: Exactly, will cost more to prosecute him, than that what was lost, and as you said he knows this and knows nothing will come of it. Just look at our good friend Taun, who has scammed a lot more than Mr. Messi. It costs nothing to lay a charge and have him prosecuted (assuming there is enough evidence for the state to use) Laying a civil claim against against him will cost though. The people who were scammed must lay charges. Duane_Bosch, MTBRIDER1234 and ChrisF

This in itself is a very scary experience for most normal humans. BigDL and ChrisF

Would that not just give the criminal a heads up, so they can get their ducks in a row and get off the grid? Seems a bit silly.

When you sit in front of that cop and you have to sign that you understand that you are the subject of a criminal investigation it's a very serious situation. Normal people **** themselves. In real life people with real jobs and real houses and real bank accounts and families can't "get off the grid" Edited September 15, 2022 by Duane_Bosch MTBRIDER1234 and BigDL

Normal people **** themselves. I get it would be very scary, but I don’t understand why this step is required. Surely it just gives real bad guys a chance to make themselves scarce. If a bad guy is called in to the cop shop and told what he is being investigated for and signs to acknowledge it, before being sent on his way, he then knows what tracks to cover and would probably go on the lam. For a guy who has been struggling to pay you back the initial money he scammed you out of and clearly he needed the money, How is he going to afford to pay you back all of that money when he gets paid? Unless he got a really good job (employers obviously never googled him as I suggested they may) and with his 1st paycheck, giving away 5k+(not even counting the other 2 guys), this after not working for however long which put him in the situation which started all this mess in the 1st place, Will not affect him financially. Sorry but I get a feeling there will be a few more stories before this is paid off, or the request for a payment plan. Vetplant
