Given the description of events, not entirely unreasonable. Pretty sure the kids have also been given a proper rollicking at home. 
Imho this is one of those crpy moments where nobody wins.

I saw a small snippet of the supposed video the one girl took while playing tok-tokkie. 

All I can say thinking about this whole situation in general: it is an insanely weird thing to happen to someone of MvdP's stature the night before a World Championship race. Bizarre, to say the least.
