Still waiting for a reply. In the meantime I sold two bikes for roughly double his combined offers 🤷♂️ So they don’t have the courtesy to engage ? Quite unprofessional then as well MBMtbGirl 1

I wrote the reply in a very calm and composed tone. If they don't want to engage it is their choice, but it didn't help with my perception of them

And in a similar manner, if someone receives a low ball from them and gets upset about it, perhaps they should consider not engaging as many state here and just move on. It becomes a choice. Bub Marley Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 End of the day, your item is only worth what the buyer is willing to pay. Low balling sucks but bikemarket is a business that is trying to make money. There’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing. Just ignore there offers and say no. I big issue really is people over value their items. Bikes and components are not investments. Accept the fact that you’re gonna end up taking a knock when you sell. If your price is too high, people will low ball you. GLuvsMtb, IceCreamMan, Scott roy and 2 others 5
GLuvsMtb Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 I have done business with Bike Market before. While offer received were lower than my asking price, it was definitely not low-balling. If you consider that they buy blind, (bar a few pics) and pay out even before you ship your bike to them, it goes without saying that they will manage their risk accordingly. I also saw their offer as the starting point for their negotiations and negotiated a higher price than their offer with success. No one is forcing you to sell your bike to someone who has not had the comfort of viewing or even testing it and there is wiggle room with any buyer. Its good old-fashioned Capitalism and the world can do with a lot more of it. Dusty, Prince Albert Cycles, IceCreamMan and 5 others 6 2

Wannabe Posted July 26, 2025 Posted July 26, 2025 I had an episode with a "reseller" a few years back when they just got active on Bike Hub. A private seller advertised an item I was dearly looking for at a really good price. (it was for a set AM Classic road wheels I was longing after) .I noticed his add within 10 minutes of it going up, and contacted him immediately, only to be told Mr XYZ already contacted him and the item was "reserved". I asked if he received any payment for the item, and he replied in the negative. I then contacted the "buyer/reseller" to ask if I could buy the item from the original seller, as he has not made payment yet, or received the item Reseller then told me I can buy the items from him at about a 100% mark up. Told him to reconsider as I knew what the original selling price was, only to be told "take it or leave it" Well, I left it, but this left a very sour taste in my mouth as I could not believe the audacity and sheer arrogance of the reseller. I made a point to never buy anything from him from then on. cadenceblur, thebob, Daniel Christensen and 1 other 1 1 2
