Had a nice long-weekend 

 

Bonfrutti, between Ashton and Swellendam.  Self catering facility, with the option to pop over to their restaurant for any meals.

 

Farmer explained the roads and options to us, for cycling.  Also many hiking options.

 

The one option was past the dam, around the koppie, then cycling up the koppie from the North side, then ride the ridge from the one to the next to the next .... The last one reminds of Dorstberg, so I took the road down to the valley before this.

 

 

This was only 5km, but what a nice short ride !!

 

 

 

 

The next day we headed into the opposite direction, and up a different koppie ...

 

 

 

 

 

best of all .... no cell reception at the house where we stayed (need to drive 3km if you really need to make a call)

Funny enough we still have some on the alps and within easy sight.... yet down here it’s as hot as hell

 

Often wonder about this, when we lived in Joburg we would feel the cold from the mountains in Lesotho and cape 100’s of km away now we are much closer yet never feel the same kind of cold

Protesters?

A poacher has gone missing and the protesters claim he was shot by Fisheries Dept.When I got to Houtbay at about 11am there was a factory burning in the harbor but did not seen any protesters.Cycled up the valley and coming down Empire rd an old couple standing outside their house warned me about protesters between the houses,as I passed the burning obstacles I heard the cops shooting and the next moment 2 house were on fire.House targeted belongs to a fisheries inspector.Lady and child held hostage in one of the houses.Not Cool!

I think me bringing it with in this trip, is a clear indication of just how hard I’m “trying” ????

Unfortunately my wife's bike ride took her on an unplanned helicopter ride yesterday.  Went out for a casual road ride when she wiped out at fairly low speed but hit her head hard on the road.  Concussion, broken elmbow and had to spend the night in ICU for observation due to a small amount of bleeding in the head (not the brain itself from what I understand).
