Whites road takes you from Wilderness and connects up with the 7 passes road - it's a beautiful scenic climb and as difficult as you want to make it - nice to see the mountains in the background smokeless although there are still several pockets smoldering - it can be done on a road bike but both of my attempts at a PB ended up with punctures so I've given up

If you're a Strava slut, you only have to top Matthys Beukes' effort, apparently done on a road bike and a full 5 minutes faster than my best in only 5.5 km - that's why I pay for my Pyga and why he gets paid for riding his

My last ride here in the Waterberg ... I was told there were many gravel roads round here but nobody mentioned that there are only 2 options ... either corrugations or thick sand [emoji22]

Helped this little critter cross the road safe and out of the midday sun8e658a86345eb2e76b4dc4ee1b6134c6.jpg

Long ride inspecting the devastation of the 7 passes. I didn't take photos of the burnt pine plantations or the family mill where 400 people have lost their livelihood. I went to the Garden Route Trail Park to refuel but it's closed. Where the trails ran through forest, charred and smoldering stumps remain. Nature will recover but this fire has done some serious damage.
