if any of you guys are inclined towards this type of solitude, do yourself a favour and make a plan to get out into the Cederberg. There are some locals who could use the financial support that a few mountain bikers can throw their way. These areas are so remote that they don't get any regular traffic and the rely on guys like us to make a living. DM me - I'll be happy to put you in touch with the accommodation providers.

Sometimes you don't mind lying around a bit till those who sacrifice themselves for biltong have passed

The one kind of traffic jam I don't mind

Spending a few days in Prince Albert.  Headed out at 6:00, certainly have a healthy respect for the day temperatures in this area ....

The first of a couple of water crossings for the day ....

An hour into the ride before the sun made its appearance.

Three Duikers were following my progress, and just running a few steps at a time ...

The road condition was "fast changing" in the 12km stretch I did .... obvious which parts have been re-done after the recent snow and rain, and what parts are still due for some maintenance ...

Quickly popped up to the very top of the Swartberg pass before heading back to Prince Albert.  The pass works your legs on the way up ... but man it WORKS the breaks on the way down !!  :whistling:

Look carefully, I think they were klipspringers. The area where you saw them is klipspringer habitat supreme.

But then, I'm just so suurgat with jealousy I'll say any kind of rubbish! That there is where I grew up and that pass is where my hearts alter ego lives.

First post-Covid-start-of-spring commute. Decided to use my favourite commuter - the Merckx. Usually these massive beer trucks scare and intimidate the living daylights out of me in the Newlands area, but this guy gave me room, waited for me to pass and at the brewery where he stopped we had a little chat. He sat at home for 3 months while there was no beer to deliver and says he is so happy to be back at work and out on the road.

Past this church on the way home after work. Still working shorter than usual days to allow my staff the opportunity to avoid public transport. Which means a nice little daylight savings time for me to take a quick picture and a few spare minutes to sketch. (One of my Covid-lock-down-resolutions is to do it more often)
