DR ◣◢ Posted December 30, 2020 Share Quick trip out to Wolwespruit on Monday. Some serious leg breaker climbs towards 10km but the flow track heading down to the start is well worth it. Yesterday was a trip out to Red Barn to sharpen up some skill on technical and jumping. TheoG, gummibear, Wayne pudding Mol and 1 other

DR ◣◢ Posted December 30, 2020 Share Drop me a line next time you're heading out that way! I hope you made it up to the new flowyjumpy section at the top. I'm not even sure where I made it. By the time I climbed to the top / start of the blue trail for the 23km I couldn't even think straight anymore. From there I picked up a jump/flow line that kept going and going and going. I took that all the way to the bottom and out to the car park. It looked fairly well ridden so I doubt it was the new section. Frosty Posted December 30, 2020 Share Rapha500 done for this year. One more ride (and a run) to achieve my annual distance goal. Spent R400 on an annual permit, even though I leave on the 11th. I don’t have to ride to the Sasol each time to get a day permit. Besides, R400 is minimal compared to the labour required on an annual basis to maintain the trails. Christie Posted December 30, 2020 Share Winelands meander to finish the 500km. Roads were very quiet - nice for cycling, but sad for farmers. Long Wheel Base, capediver, DJR and 10 others

RocknRolla Posted December 30, 2020 Share Went back out to Karkloof today ( sounding like a broken record) my wife has this fomo thing, and if we did’nt at least attempt to fit in all the trails while we are down here, I would have not heard the end of it. I was feeling rather battered this morning when I woke, and I knew going out and riding will certainly assist in getting the muscles a bit suppler. Armed with the 37km route that I obtained from the Karkloof website on my GPS, we set out. The majority of the climbing happens at during the beginning of the route, but it’s very manageable, riding uphill on a forest trail, or a fire break road, is nothing like riding uphill on a dirt road, where we come from. At the top of what must have been 10 switchbacks, if you cant ridem uphill after this, maybe MTB aint your sport. The green grass in between the pine needles makes for nice photos ( with a bit of editing) got passed by a small group on some really nice Santa Cruz bikes. ( I had trailbike envy, please don’t tell my on-one) The missus’s bike could withstand the on-one’s pure sex appeal, and uses every opportunity to cuddleWe eventually made it back to where I had my mishap yesterday, I didn’t feel confident to ride it, but I did take some fotos, and anylised the crash site fully. From here it’s smiles for miles down to the falls. Got home, offloaded the missus bike and loaded the little GT, as I took my youngest to go and see the falls (waterfalls, not my falls) Made it in one piece. Very proud of him, we almost rode 9km, and he fared quite well with a spot of climbing done. almost home. Two segments that I definitely want to hit is The Bachelor and Isikhova. Hopefully dry trails this time. Both excellent. Isikhova is where I saw my naught. It should be ridden on repeat, so one can learn the trail, as it has numerous jumps, that on my skill level can not be ridden blindly. After the rocky drop, it’s just a rollercoaster of awesomeness. The 37 posted on Trailforks ( via the club’s website) takes one on some unkept sections as well, there was a section through some saplings that was kinda difficult to keep on the trail, with a down section that forms part of the trailrun route. I had a buttclencher of note there as I caught a fallen branch wrong, and it made the branch roll out under both wheels at the same time in a corner... Did you run into any of those fern looking plants that grow into the trail and turns out belongs to the devil himself? I went up to the Lebanon fire tower one afternoon and descended through Gauntlet, Sahara, and Voodoo Lounge. Then from the top (as far as my legs could go) I went down Windsong. More of them there. By the time I got back to the club both my arms and legs were bleeding and my shirt was looking less than ideal. Sorry about your crash man. You didn't run out of talent from the sounds of it. More like ran out of bike.
