The morning started out with a light breeze, and nice mid 20's ..... After the Gorge the temperatures started hovering around the 30's ....  Strange how those few degrees can add to the challenge ....

 

This was our first time doing the "Black route".  WOW !!  After 32km we were VERY happy to see this Oasis in the desert !!!!  Having finished our nearly 4 liters of water a few kilometers earlier this truly was an Oasis in the desert .....

When did you ride here ?  We started on Saturday just after 7:00. .... parking was busy with lots of riders and runners getting an early start

53km .... after skipping a couple of the sections along the return loop.

 

Expect the full route to be about 65km, will certainly go back and do the full route .... in cooler weather.

Would like to ride there, one day, when I visit the in-laws for holiday.

So many options to turn back.  So can do anything from 12 to 70km.

 

We did not turn back at 23km .... not realising the next turn is only at 32km ... 🤪

We went in the late afternoon and didn’t see a soul.

Cool pics. The trails are actually really loose at the moment but they never disappoint. I might have seen your group this morning on my way up. 
 

The trail builders here are amazing! The full black route is probably around 40kms of singletrack!
