Tokai with Beattbox and Deon - like a reunion of old crocs! Sore ribs, sore knees, sore neck! You'd swear we had a new years party bar none! (Which we didn't!)

Short ride report:

The "elevator" isn't as steep or as long as I thought, or I'm fitter than I thought!

Mamba and Boomslang flows like mercury! Damn, it is fun. You feel as if you can ride it without braking.......but of course you have to shave off a bit of speed here and there, or you are going to overshoot the jumps and end up in lower Tokai (Constantiaberg Medi Clinic)  in a ball of broken bones.

Give that man a Captain Morgan.

Started the day with a very nice ride! Was up at 5 am, but was 5 mins late for my fellow rider... Won't happen next time. We began at Majik going through to Bloemendal, Hillcrest, and wanted to do Contermanskloof, but the wind was quite hectic, so went down Bloemendaler. Awesome ride and stopped for a coffee. My foon se kop het uitgehak (sorry for the Afrikaans, I just feel it describes it better) resulting in my loss of my Strava progress. Lucky my fellow rider had his Polar on and I did 36km (while he had to drive home still). The new Maxxis Ikon's ride like a dream! Just had a bad luck with a branch stuck in my front tyre which almost ripped my sidewall (thank goodness for the 3C version).

There was one problem though... The climbs (not all of them). I suffered badly with my 1x10. Chainring 34T and 11-36 cassette. Eish, did not work at all. Really need to fix this ASAP, as it was my first time riding that section of the track. I am fine with Bloemendal, but now I know I do not have enough gears.

Disclaimer: I sadly do not have any pics. :(

Has anybody done the loop-the-loop?

In my opinion - limited to my own basic understanding of g-force, the loop should have started with a big radius transition in, with the radius growing smaller towards the end - so that as you lose speed, the distance you have to travel gets less - effectively propelling you through the upside down bit - past the apex at the top, and then relax again towards the exit. This seems more like a stretched balloon shape with the apex right at the top being the smallest radius and both sides pretty vert.

As I said - my opinion and to me it makes sense...
