Hi all, I am in the market for a MTB saddle. Budget about R2,5000.00. So far looking at the Specialized power range as well as the Selle San Marco (At cycle lab).

Any recommendations on which is better, or any other brand you can suggest?

The saddle that came with my new bike is just hurting too much, would prefer a sporty comfortable saddle.

Feedback will be much appreciated.

I love the short nose on the Power saddle and have some mates who swear by their San Marco

its a tough call between both options, both are great brands of saddle.

Best bet is to go for a little spin on both if you can and see what is better suited for you.

Not sure if you have checked the width of your sit bones yet but that may be the deciding factor at the end of the day.

Try see what was wrong with your current saddle first. Saddles are very personal, people are going to recommend what works for them. Which might or might not work for you, don't throw darts with your bum.

of course you can always go to specialised and do the science thing with their ass-o-meter device. it works well I'm told but hurts the bum through the wallet. (they even have a thing called the "mirror" but that is not in your budget)

and the real kicker here is that the cheapest saddle may end up matching your sensitive bits best...

I have Fabric saddles on MTB and road bike. Their padding seems to be softer than the spez and it just works with my behind. The Fabric Scoop radius

Thank you for the replies.

Where can I have a look at Fabric saddles? I live in Pretoria

I see bike addict sells them but think it is probably something to see and even try before buying.

Will make sure to measure sit bones first. Currently have a 145mm wide low-cost saddle but very uncomfortable for me. Feels as if it is too marrow for sit bones. I know 145 is already quite wide.

This. Only this.

These are some options to consider, according to my research:

Spez Power (not for me, I've tried ALL of them)

Spez Phenom (way more comfortable than the Power saddle, for me)

WTB Koda

WTB Volt

Ergon SM Comp

Heard great things about WTB and Ergon, problem is where to find them in Pretoria region? I suppose if I have sit bone measurement, I can probably order from Bike addict also?

+1 for the WTB Volt. Best saddle yet, especially on my Hardtail.

I have a Selle San Marco , short fit 2.0 dynamic on my road bike. Its a very comfortable saddle for me. I think a saddle is a very personal thing , and you must find what works for you and not for others amongst the big variety out there.
