What I dont understand is why/how he used his real name as opposed to a pseudonem, like Piet van der Merwe or what ever.
Its not like his name is not unique, and will stand out on a page to you from a mile away if you've been defrauded by him before.  (apologies to the purists for the double negative)

The mind boggles sometimes

I thought that too.

and then figured he probably does both and we are seeing just the tip of the iceberg. Might even have multipe id books for all you know.

I find it hard to believe she didn't know, but then that french case with the deranged husband came to mind. I hope they don't have kids! She better start facing reality. Not sad for him at all. In fact, impressed it appears they are trying maybe to consolidate his charge. The mess he has left behind is what is devastating.

Belinda I personally was not affected by him but I am truly impressed with the way you have continued to address this and not let him get away. You must have a cape somewhere. Well done.

Generally with these people they see themselves as honourable on some level and they tell themselves and those around them that their intentions are honourable, and when it does not work out, its someone else's fault and it ends up being a justification for not repaying what innocent people paid him. Using a pseudonem or fake ID would be a firm indicator that their intentions were never honourable and would make justification later nearly impossible when things inevitably do not work out.

I am glad to read that proper legal recourse is being sought, but perplexed at some of the comments on here wishing him physical harm.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, seems I was misinformed this morning and Taun is once again a free man😭

I don't quite understand how it's possible, have been told now that the case is not criminal but rather Civil case and has been closed🤔🤔😥

I am at a loss now, seems he has some family member that is an advocate and that's that.

All I can suggest is that everyone that has been affected sends an email to Gavin- actionclass@mweb.co.za , he tried to do this few years back however didn't get enough people interest  Perhaps it is time for that?

Very disappointed, however at least he has had some bad press and hopefully by the time he gets going again people will be more aware.

A civil case is often easier to prove guilt in so not all is lost.

Anyone who has had dealings with the legal system anywhere on the planet will know how convoluted and ridiculous it is - hardly t.i.a.

Perhaps then the feds should have noted this in the beginning that it would be a civil case and not criminal. Thats what I meant by the t.i.a part

Lets hope the civil prosecution continues

No. Taking peoples money under false pretenses is fraud . Persist with this . If you had Bolhuis involved let him talk to the Regional Prosecutor or he will have contacts at the NPA . Escalate it to someone who is not bamboozled by an advocate.  A civil case victory will be an empty victory . He must get a criminal conviction

There is definitely something off. Repeatedly sending fraudulent proof of payments to clients and landlords and massage therapists and renting bicycles and not returning them but actually selling them and cancelling trips and tours last minute and not refunding people or only refunding them when they go to war. It all sounds pretty criminal to me. I literally have messages and voice message on my phone where he pretends to be Mike Walters who was the person I thought I was paying for my spectacular Cederberg UltraMTB experience...

What I would love to know is how to find information on a person's insurance claim records. I have seen a few references to insurance claims. My SAPS detective was all fired up yesterday armed with fresh case numbers and quite confident for bail hearing. This evening he sounds defeated and has assured me the case will be closed. I will talk to Bolhuis detective tomorrow

I wouldn't touch Bolhuis with a barge pole after his alleged involvement with Louis Liebenberg. The type of money Liebenberg allegedly defrauded makes Brewster look like a kindergarten bully in Pollsmoor

Starting to think Bolhuis guys have simply used this as a marketing exercise. They promised they had other cases and seemed confident . Once arrest happens they post it and that is that it seems, sigh 😔

Catch 22 ...

He was arrested on ONE charge.  The court may ONLY consider that ONE charge.  Which is why I made the previous comment it is "easy enough" to wiggle out of a single charge .... you need to find a "technicality" and then wiggle out of it.

BUT, as was pointed out in reply to my previous post .... linking too many cases causes a "paralysis by analysis" situation where it becomes an endless spiral to tie all the cases together.

The legal system (not just in SA) has developed to the point where it has become incredibly difficult to prosecute these cases.
