Any suggestions on knee and elbow pads for an almost 3 year old? Either that or mommy is going to put my boy in bubble wrap before allowing him onto the next balance bike (progression from plastic balance scooter to mini bike with rear brake)

What did you get for them?

Twins are turning three tomorrow and they want new bikes \

Any suggestions appreciated

it's bike rebuild time!

I have 2012 girl and 2014 boy edition kids.

Their mother is short, so they have small legs!

have gone through the bike process of plastic=>ybike=>balance bike(12")=>ss bike (16"), with the boytjie only about 6months behind his siter despite the 2year+ age gap.

This meant the 16" bike we got him was just too big, so it got swapped out for a 14" which was harder to find.

it is now time to upgrade again, she has already got a 20" spez hotrock from le hub that is actually a lovely bike for kids.

He is going to move onto her Muna 16", that he has actually been riding for the past 2 months anyway.

only problem is that i did a custom paint job for her, with her nickname on the down tube.

so it's strip, clean, and paint, rebuild time. mom is way more arty than me so can help with the painting design and application. (did rustoleum spray can plus clearcoat, seemed to work ok enough for the requirements)

it's actually a really good process to see how everything is, and i might at this point try and upgrade the brakes for him (disks would be awesome). as we live by the see, a lot of the chromy type stuff is very tarnsihsed to look at. i did the soak in coke thing last time, but it didn't really stay shiny for long. suggestions welcome

...............

You better post pictures of the rest of this project. Or else!

(I started much the same way, just with two boys......and before I knew it I was onto my latest project......a single speed / fixie for a 21st birthday that will be coming up in a little while. I supposed this is the wrong thread for that, but what the hell, as long as I post it before he turns 21, you all will just have to forgive me.)

Up until yesterday I have only taken the oldest in the weehoo and Mom walks the twins in the vantly. Have been saying I want to try hook it all up together so we can all go as Mom is no where near fit or strong enough to pull a kid/kids on the bike. So yesterday Morning I attached the vantly to the back of the weehoo and went with the oldest for a test ride with the vantly empty. All went and looked good so I loaded up the twins and off we all went.

going to be a monster of a bike rack to transport that  ... going to need an "extra long wheel base" ...

PS - know an 8-year old that rides with his dad on the tandem.  They often do 100 to 200km trips on a day.  Needless to say he DROPS the others in the Spur races !!  Rugby is his main sport, so he misses too many Spur events to rank at the end of the season ....

Took the kids riding at Rosemary Hills. Did the 5km, stoped at the car for cooldrinks and koffie. Just as we wanted to do the next 5km the one bike inner tube started to deflate and it had a 2cm tear on a lining. Bringing the days ride to an end 5fe3b85351e8add8c02e07bd72851bad.jpg34b2d2bba8fdcaaabfda8e411a8be2df.jpgbbb437f0c6247510811a780b6a101f00.jpg79d07174d3d20e7b41c7aa241a5459f4.jpg0b3081a6a7f6082849b38821140317ea.jpg

That is a lekker trailer you have. Does it bounce around a lot though?  Being so light.

It jumpes allot. The bikes is straped very tight so they just move with the trailer.
