  1. I have to second this. (Ok I have a Menabo Winny not a Thule but I got it for half the price of a Thule) Had a normal Thule hanging rack before. Which is fine.....to start. Platforms are sooooo much simpler and better for your bikes. As for which towbar...one that works, adjustables all have some play, mine is a Factory Fitted removable goose neck type, works a treat.
  2. I read this the other day. Pretty good explanation: http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/headset-standards
  3. I use a Wireless Cateye Velo, no issues at all, mounted on top of stem with battery below. Also, to comply with FCC rules any electronic device must accept any interference, so if that's happening it might be a fault in the computer.
  4. Depends on what you want, there is a nice sort of picnic area and a restaurant, a kids track which is nice, it's very quiet and relaxing. Not as well suited for family activities as rietvlei, but definitely worth it for a good book reading and the kids being able to run around and ride the kids track which is right next to the picnic area. I'd recommend trying it out.
  5. When first converting you need to rotate and pump the tire every 12-24 hours if you don't use the sun method. A ride in between helps as well, until all the gaps in the bead are sealed.
  6. Yup another vote for those here. Used to use the 540's, hit many a rock with them, dragged through water tons, they just work. Bought the trail version of the XT's for my new bike.....they are 99.9% the same, slightly thinner, slightly lighter but they feel pretty much the same, so value for money it's a no brainer.
  7. I'm gonna go with Sharkie on this one. If you'd contacted them a while back you might have been able to negotiate a sweet deal. Now it's just a pointless fight. Whether they intentionally misled or just made a stupid mistake the horse is dead, quit flogging it.
  8. 2.) They would, because they sell Titan not Momsen, same with the guys who don't sell Giant. Basically, they aren't bad at all. 4.) I'm like a stuck record, but have a look at the Silverbacks, great value for money and you get a lot. Storm 2 should be in the ballpark price wise, Carbon 29er. Or the Sola 1 round 18k if memory serves. Top spec Alu bike basically. http://www.silverbac...CK/sola1_14.htm http://www.silverbac...K/storm2_14.htm

    Help!!!

    You can try cycle tech in Kyalami 011 466 9974 or Cycle Lab Fourways, (011) 707 4700 or Cajees(They have a boatload too) in Fourways +27 11 465 0023.

  11. From a bit of googling the 445 levers seem to not be removable, guess the thinking is that one would just swap out the whole brake set.
  12. The Sola 2 comes with Alex XD's. Haven't ridden them but I do have the Alex XD Lite 26" on my other bike, I';m about 95kg and I nailed them hard on the Magalies Monster putting a few dings in over the rocks with no problems. So like everyone says, have a reputable builder look them over but they should be all good.

    Who remembers?

You guys might like this, pretty much every NES (TV Games in our valley) there ever was, and for free, only catch is online. http://nesbox.com/
  14. That is one terrible photoshop job.
  15. Remember reading a thread that said at high pressure and for road bikes sealant gets spotty. So might or might not.
  16. You could try some higher pressure as well, I use non tubeless Schwalbe's, pumped them up to about 40 PSI for 3 days in a row rotating and moving them around to get them to seal nicely.
  17. R550 ish looks like. If cyclelab can be trusted, also there is like 5 different versions of the black panthers: http://cyclelab.com/accessories/bike-essentials/tyres-and-tubes-en/vredestein-black-panther-xtreme-29-mtb-tyre.html
  18. Being an IT Tech....there is some truth to that. I also have been prescribed Penicillin 3 times by a backup doctor when my regular one is busy. The FIRST thing on my file.....severe Penicillin allergy. I could understand once or twice. But 3 times is plain rediculous. Never going back there.
  19. A fair point perhaps, but ever since a doctors negligence and lack of interest contributed to my fathers death, I have very little sympathy for doctors. The reality is as well that a lot of doctors either don't care or are just terrible at their job, or are just out to make the most profit possible. I realise that there are still great doctors around who really do care and that I may be grossly generalizing, but their numbers seem to be dwindling.
  20. Nice, beauty of a bike, many happy miles!
  21. I missed that lol. Then the Slider 1 would be the competition. Although the Giant is by far the best in class I think. Never ridden a bike with that much travel so I'll let the other guys comment on whether it would work for stage races etc.
  22. Have to add look at the Silverback Sprada 1 as well. I bought it because of the 120mm travel, XT and Slx kit and stans wheels. A bit of a do it all buke so might not be the best at one but neither am i. Comes in at under 30k. Got mine for 25k
  23. My Menabo does a little bit, but that's cause I have L and XL frames with large tubes, hard to find clamp space. But Uni that towbar has more lean to it than an ANC whiskey tasting party.....should be perfectly level so once that's sorted it should be very little actual lean.
  24. Welp.....there goes 75% of SA online sites.
