  1. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Canyon (I own two of them). But almost 100k for a bike with Shimano 105 components is just madness (regardless of the comparison to other brands). If you want a comparison, the Spez Shiv with 105 components (and rim rather than disc brakes) is R55k.And their top-of-the-line model is R220k (didn't get as far as comparing specs on this one)
  2. Looks awesome but R290k for the top of the line and R95k for the "entry-level" option with Shimano 105 components is just far too expensive... (these prices include shipping, duties and VAT. Excl. those they are R211k and R67k respectively)
  3. We can only assume that at this point she has absolutely no **** left
  4. Try taking it in to Garmin anyway. I had a 945 and the battery failed out of warranty a few months ago. Took it in and they replaced it for free. Worth a shot.
  5. The two will literally never tie up unless it is coincidental and they are not designed to (You might get pretty close if your trainer difficulty is set to 100% and you are not doing a structured workout though). In Zwift your speed is determined by your power output, your weight, an aerodynamic coefficient that is determined by your height and the frame/wheel combo you are riding and the in-game gradient and is pretty accurate. Your "Garmin" speed is determined by how fast your trainer is spinning and what your wheel circumference setting is. If you are doing a structured workout in ERG mode, they two are completely independent since your "Garmin" speed will only depend on your cadence and gear combo while your Zwift speed will be determined by all of the listed factors above. If your trainer difficulty is <100% then your speeds will also differ since on higher gradients in Zwift, you will be spinning your trainer faster since the apparent grade is lower.
  6. He was at Lousa according to the full qualifying list. Qualified in like 70th (iirc) so didn't make the start hut for the main race.
  7. I assume that the angles and eccentricity are custom built for his pedal stroke. Not sure what else could be different.
  8. Looks like you don't have heart rate zones set up. You need to set heart rate zones so it can estimate a training load for activities with only heart rate data and no power data. You can do that in the settings screen next to your power zones.
  9. Fixed it for you
  10. Well it was mine but now we are living together so I guess it's hers
  11. Yeah, I got that mail too. My comment about not being sure if events are happening this year was specific to the Trinity ones
  12. It's not the easiest tri you will ever do but it's not bad. The swim is in the dam so it's ok. The ride is the cradle loop plus a bit of the way out to the caves, so a little hilly but again, not too bad. The run, as mentioned, is a trail run but it's mostly on dirt roads and fairly manicured single track so nothing too technical. I did one there as my first tri and apart from being woefully under-prepared for the swim and then going far too hard on the bike it was all good I'm not sure if they are happening this year, but if you really want to ease yourself into a first tri, look for the Trinity Tri's at Germiston lake. Both the run and the bike are completely flat,
  13. Yesterday was new bike day for my girlfriend. Her first MTB. Put some proper tubeless tyres on and replaced the brakes with a set of XT M8000s that I had lying around. First ride tomorrow morning Thanks to the guys at Mellow Velo for the great service and prompt response to all my queries.
  14. I've ridden both the Ardent and the Forekaster fairly extensively (over 1500km on each) and I really couldn't find much of a difference between them to be honest. (Combos I rode: Forekaster F&R, Ardent F Forekaster R, Ardent F Ardent Race R)
  15. Apparently she crashed on some flat/non-technical section of the course, tried to carry on but realised she had a concussion and pulled out.
  16. That's for "Team Vitality" i.e. the running/cycling club. And those are annual fees not once-offs either.
  17. Currently R280/month for 1 member according to my last payslip.
  18. I'm pretty sure that all those old "6.9kg aero bikes" were about as stiff as wet spaghetti and incredibly inefficient on climbs regardless of the weight. I also don't get where your whining about marketing is coming from. If they could build an aero bike that was 6.8kg and climbed as well as a climbing bike they definitely would because it would certainly give them an advantage in races. And lets be honest, winning races sells far more bikes than any clever marketing does... And your whinge about proprietary parts applies equally to every aero, tt, and triathlon bike so I'm not sure why you are singling this one out.
  19. I've never cycled up there but I had to run up there a few times for cross-country in my younger days and I remember it sucked back then as well.
  20. In summary: optical HR sensors are s**t and should not be used outside of laboratory conditions. Use a chest strap.
  21. The 130 uses GPS based altitude whereas the 520 uses barometric pressure altitude as far as I know. They should be reasonably close but it's very likely that they will be different. The accuracy of the GPS based altitude will depend on the precision of the survey data in the area that you are riding (i.e. how small are the survey "blocks", usually smaller in cities and towns and larger out in the countryside). Also riding over bridges that are very elevated above the terrain can also screw with the readings. Similarly the barometric based altitude will be susceptible to rapid changes in weather screwing with the altitude estimate.
  22. It is a bit strange that you don't get TSS or IF but you do get Normalised Power. They are all so closely related it makes no sense that you don't get all 3 if you get one of them... /shrugs
  23. Have you tried re-installing the Deezer app from Connect IQ? The little IQ text with the exclamation mark means that the version of the app is not compatible with the version of the software on the device as far as I am aware.
  24. My eyes started watering just reading that
