Shebeen Posted August 4, 2017 Share I never got the point of fishing in the sense of throwing in the bait and waiting hours.  Bass and trout i get, and it is actually fun. I live by the coast and see loads of fisherman on the rocks on walks and runs. Eddy Gordo Posted August 4, 2017 Share I fish with live bait and various other baits. Over the years the catch rate has seriously dropped. There is a crew who row out with nets from the shore and drag in everything even protected species and they get away with it. As a recreational fisherman, the inspectors are extremely strict to the full might of the law, but when it comes to commercial fisherman, they just seem to turn a blind eye. I was on a commercial boat a few years back, I caught a huge fish which was a protected species, and as I was about to return it to the water,  one of the crew claimed the fish, stuffed it into some bags and then into a back pack.
