A bit of a feel good laugh on a Friday.

So obviously the matrics can't have their usual 40 days celebrations..you know generally take over the school... go have class with gr8s, put a catfish in the school fountain, dress up the statues at the school have a class party etc etc and because the official 40 days falls in an impossible time to actually do anything because of the revised calendar and regulations ..my son and his fellow matrics have declared today their 40 days .. of course an entire grade bunking school is the closest they can have to some sort of celebration.. pretty sure there will be one or 2 day bugs going to school and some hostel kids couldn't get home..

Shame at least it is something..their little way of taking over by not being there.. the teachers were not in the loop with this one.. they heard whispers of a party on a farm and made a big thing about that even letters were sent but the kids used that as a distraction to keep the stay away under wraps.. I am sure the teachers probably picked up on it at some point before today [emoji1787]

Well played class of 2020[emoji122]

That's a good plan. Lekker to get the teachers to wonder where the kids are.

My 40 days was spent in a state of light concussion after my best mate moered the day lights out of me after he wrongly accused me of stealing his gf the previous night. All I remember of that day was sitting in class and then keeling over. Next thing my mother was escorting me into the doctors rooms.

40 days really is one of the big the highlights of your matric year.. and these matrics have lost so much of the celebration of being in matric.. every event is a last..shame I am glad they did something..

It's a highlight for some. For introverts like me it was a pain in the ass. Also the matric dance - would have happily stayed away, but as a teenager you try to sort of fit in.

Yeah he was never bothered about missing the matric dance..but 40 days was one he was looking forward to and the school kind of lets them have full reign as long as they are respectful. The teachers always just accept that 40 days won't be a productive school day (school is quite big on school spirit).. but the kids actually impressed me with the stay away it is responsible under current circumstances and yet still a bit of rebellious [emoji1787]

We were planning a matric reunion in August, and although it is now unlikely to come off, people have been sending pictures back & forth in the process. Looking at them now, I really was such a dork. And the dress code, oh my, I'm going to have to photoshop a lot before I can let my boys see those pictures or I'll never hear the end of it.

My sister takes great pleasure in unearthing these sorts of photos and sharing them on family groups

..............After this one picture, I've decided to bury the watercolours and brushes six feet deep in the backyard and concrete it over.

Well, today I'm glad I couldn't find the spade.........because somehow I tried again.........sucker for punishment and all..........and this picture I think I can live with..........I get the feeling of the place from it...........but I'll still hide it somewhere!
