Rekon 2.4 front, Rekon Race 2.35 rear. Both are 60tpi EXO DC so on the portly side (for XCM/XCO), but they are tough and grip really well. I had a Rekon 2.4 on the rear and the grip was amazing on climbs but on downhills didn't seem to make that much difference and rolled quite a lot slower compared to the Rekon Race. I am running a tubolite insert on the rear too now which allows me to go a bit lower in pressure and also kills buzz, which is quite a nice side effect.

These are mounted on 30mm carbon rims. I would definitely go Rekon on the front again. It is such a versatile tire. Probably best front tire I have used.

Looked at Forekaster a while ago. Maybe time to relook that chapter. I have s brand new Ikon in the cupboard.   Would love to swap that somehow....

Forekaster is definitely worth a try, especially if you ride in the Gauteng / sand or loose over hardpack.  That is if you can find one.  I was lucky to find an ardent 2.4 at olympic in CPT, as all the forekasters were sold out but they are available online from CWC/Cyclelab at a good price.

That sounds like a good combo. Have you tried a forekaster up front? I'm a big fan of the forekaster, rolls fast with decent grip, but would like to hear your thoughts on how it compares to a 2.4 rekon up front. I also run the rekon race on the rear.

I haven't ridden the Forekaster but seems it is more suited to the wet. I have ridden others Ardent Race, Racing Ralph, Ikon, Conti X-King. I would rate the Rekon better than all of them in terms of grip and cornering confidence.

What's the price? I use enduroseal, works and offers better value when compared to Stans as well. 1 litre

I don't  know what it costs, never bought any.  Used samples I got from races.

I hear great  things about Enduroseal.

They look pretty bloody good and have made life super simple to understand the casing construction. Look at that combined with the tyre mass and you can really make an educated decision on the casing for you :)

Some there I'd definitely like to try, but let's see whether the local supplier will ACTUALLY bring in the "Enduro" casing...Not like more and more people are riding bigger bikes and/or ebikes or anything...LeSigh

Anybody ridiging with Chaoyang mtb tyres?  I have a pair of Vipers (slicks) on a wheel set I use for road riding, pretty good for the price.

I do. Alternates between them and gravel tires on my Hybrid. Been using for a few years now, no problems at all.
