You haven't lived until you've waited at Spur. Welkom, and Rondebosch for me. The coffee was never good at spur.

hi,thanks for the reply.  Yes I know a lot of different makers have been discussed, but this thread is massive with lots of info, so just looking for a start point.  I will check out the jura, thanks for the advice.

We had a then R35000 coffee machine, as the owner loved coffee,  So it helped a lot.  What did not help was the kitchen staff that cleaned the coffee grinder one morning.  To get the perfect grind was a mission, but I got it on cup 50 or so.

Lived there for many years. Well actually in Virginia. From like 1990 to 2003. I don't go to high school there though. And varsity in Grahamstown. [emoji12]

If anybody following this thread is looking for an Aeropress, I have one that I am not using.  Will sell it for R250 if you are into it.

Ahh man, just got mine few days ago!

But come to think of it... where are you. If you are in PTA one more for home will never do harm :)

And, how is it?

Love it. Just needs a lid to be the perfect grinder.  And I still need to work out how not to go to fine as my machine can't run water between the grinds.  So have to fine tune it to get the perfect grind done and dusted.  But well worth if for the price tag.

So I bought the moka pot for occasional use when away from home, but been using it every morning on the little gas stove, it produces really nice tasting coffe, and I top my mug up with a little hot water for a nice strong black Americano. It's about as fancy a "machine " i will ever buy for myself. I may get a grinder in the foreseeable future, just for ****s and giggles.

Cool! How long does it take to grind enough coffee for say, one cup?
