Coffee machine

Recommended Posts

OK, so I moved house at the beginning of March and found that the gap in the gas hob pot supports were too large to support even my 6 cup moka pot.

Overseas one can easily find gas ring reducers which sit on the pot support, and which reduce the gap, sufficient to be able to support moka pots and other smaller vessels.

One would have thought that this is a relatively common problem, but I've only found one retailer that sells a gas ring reducer (yuppiechef, and they are waiting for stock). A number of coffee equipment shops just glaze over when you ask about them (and describe what they do)...

Does anyone know where I could find one in ZA, and specifically Jozi if possible?

Here's one, probably not exactly what you're looking for but close.

It's not in JHB but they do deliver.

Hi, interested in importing a Coffee grinder from EU, has anyone does this, besides shipping costs. Any idea on the import duties/VAT on this?

tariff heading 8509.40 is for food grinders (electro-mechanical domestic appliances).

0% duty from all regions.

Don’t forget that tariff rates are based on country of origin and not country of sale, eg. a car’s starter motor sold in the EU but made in China will be 15% compared to one made in the EU which is 0%.

I had a disc cut. I got tired of cleaning up coffee on the stove top. My pot JUST balanced on our cast iron grids.

Then we moved to a place with an electric hob. I use my camping stove now when I use the moka.

Thanks for replies so far, especially PhillipV above :)

Here is a pic of my disc hack.

Loadshedding. Urgh. My generator has a fannywobble whenever the Oscar's boiler switches on, so I now switch it off along with the geyser. First world problems.

Anybody know where I can get one of these? It is the plastic insert from the conical bur from a Porlex hand grinder clone. Mine split in half this weekend :(

I am running the Delonghi PrimaDonna ESAM 6600 Automatic Bean to Cup Espresso Machine up front at the moment.

What a machine!

Thanks. I have dropped them a mail as well as Cape Coffee Beans.

Please let us know. We split the same part on one of those eBay items

This irritation helped me select our gas hob last week. I bought a Whirlpool which has a criss cross over every Burner, so even my 2 cup sits nicely. No grand canyon..

Will do. Mine came off Amazon. Looks just like the Porlex. Probably just be cheaper to buy another grinder... So far no luck with Cape Coffee Beans or Columbo. No news from Moreflavour yet.I did find a 3D Printer file for something similar though..... just not sure how strong it will be.

Got access to a printer if you have a file

I downloaded a model off thingiverse for a burr insert. I still need to glue mine back together and check the dimensions. Guy was kind enough to upload a step file so you can edit it.

Hopefully that helps.
