However, after insurance etc., this turned into a little bit of happiness when I bought the replacement. Garmin fēnix 3 Sapphire Titanium. I was very pissed, every year, since having the fēnix 2, I've changed to the velcro strap for my beach holiday specifically for its hardiness. It's worked a charm and so I felt pretty safe. This time though, I'm not sure what happened but I felt if coming off and although I grabbed for it, I had to also make a quick grab for my 7 yr old who had just been upended by the same offending wave, and it disappeared into the abyss. I did see a whole lot of metal detector guys on the beach every morning when going for my morning run and none of them had found it, or didn't admit to having done so if they had.
