Thanks Tom. Bit rich for me, will look in the 110 range then.

I have the 120...Got it from Bibi...If you can, put a nicer fork than the Revelation on it :D

I'm running 150mm in the front...so higher than they recommend, but love it.

To me it is the perfect allround bike. As capable as the 110 uphill, but wipes it on the down stuff :D

Guys,

Looking to get a new bike soon. Currently on a Tallboy C, but want a longer travel trail bike.

Been looking at the Oneten with 130 Revelation or Onetwenty with 140 Revelation. (Large frame - 179cm height and inseam 77cm)

Questions:

1. I'm not the greatest climber, and therein lies my dilemma. I know the 650 will be better on the tight technical downs, but how does it handle climbs?

2. Frame size, currently on a large - 179cm height and inseam 77cm?

3. What your views on the new 2016 Stumpy 29er, 135 in the back, similar to the Stage Max?

Test road a mates Oneten down Conters lower level blue DH and it was amazing, felt very nimble and well planted.

So many choices!

1. Smaller wheel climbs, accelerates and turns better than a larger wheel. It doesn't hold momentum and roll over rough as well though. Take your pick. The 110 and 120 climb really well especially the traction that the chassis gets on rough loose climbs. It's just phenomenal.

2. Take a large with short stem.

3. I'm Pyga biased but I've ridden both and would take the Max every single time.

I don't consider myself a super strong climber but I passed a LOT of people on the uphills on the weekend riding the Argus MTB race on my 120...with flat pedals and 1x11.

The rear end is sooooo stiff the power transfer just feels super direct and the acceleration is great.

Over more technical rooty climbs you also smile.

29'rs...so far only one has impressed me (admittedly on paper) and that's the Evil for the type of all-round riding I want to do.

Yes I would LOOOOVE one of the Carbon Pyga's...but I'm not rolling in enough dosh to fork out close to double the money for a frame...and honestly, I doubt it makes that much difference in all honesty.

120 has smaller wheels, and doesn't come in XL. Stage MAX has negligible extra travel, but has bigger wheels, and comes in XL. Carbon was a bonus. The rear end, according to people that have ridden both, is "apparently" more stable while putting the power down on the Stage and Stage MAX. I haven't ridden the 110 or 120, so I can't comment there.

Either way, you're going to smile.

When I rode the Stage for the first time while my 140 was having it's paint job. I felt like I was cheating. PRs for days... :P

Everywhere except for the technical downhills.

Have had a 110, and have both the 120 (daugjters bike) and the Stage.

Pricing: shop around, the 120 was old stock found gathering dust at a bike shop and I picked it up for a very good price. So what if it doesn't have the latest decals...

Climbing: nothing beats a full floating suspension for grip and batting above its level. Many others have done a Porsch 911 and gone the route of trying to fix a rubbish suspension design with expensive tricks and wizardry..

110: amazing bike, and I was a reluctant seller. If I was to get another, I'd spec it with a 140 Pike and 2x11or wait to see what the pricing is going to be on the Shimano 46-11 cluster (I am useless uphill).

Stage: done just over 1000 kays on it in the last month. Amazing bike! Using the same build spec as my 110, except gone 2x instead of 3x. Front end is much more playful and easier to lift than on the 110. Haven't bottomed it out yet, but do use all the travel. Under the right person it will climb like a goat (i.e. someone around 45kgs lighter!).

Fellow Pygaphiles - does anyone have any recommendations for a downtube (and general undercarriage) protector? I'm looking to keep paint chips and scratches to a minimum.

Cheers

I also use the All Mountain frame guard. Expensive (if not bought on sale) but tough as hell...and looks pretty rad in my opinion if that's worth anything.

Hmmmm..."120 wipes the 110 on the down stuff"?

Sounds a bit biased there...but then again, me being a 110 owner probably doesn't make for a real credible counter argument either :-)

Please help me.

What size rear shock should I be looking at for a replacement on my pyga Pascoe.

Eye to eye length.

Thanks

Nico
