Pages and pages of mostly pointless rubbish and now we seriously have advocates of road rage?

 

What a cool idea. We can shoot people who ride 2 abreast. Or we can perhaps run them down. The best I have heard so far though is to stop them and give them a prostate examination on the side of the road. I am guessing the Lycra really works for you big guy.

 

By the way I think forcing a finger up a persons bum will probably get you more prison time than riding 2 abreast. The law is funny that way.

Point I was making, if someone points any finger at me and is still prepared to defend his "point of view" when I stop to discuss the issue with him, will get the offending digit removed from public sight.

Fact is, the tongue is one's strongest weapon, and should always be used first in any dispute resolution. How things go from there, anyones guess.

Its waste of time confronting riders like this (will end up in an assault chase, mark my words), you are better off emailing the club and seeing if you get a response. I once reported some riders to their club who were all over the road going up Hekpoort hill and they responded by saying they would address it with the guilty parties.If they did or not is anyone's guess but at least you may have the satisfaction of the club manager/chairman replying to you.

 

I also saw Cycle Lab heading out Hekpoort Way on Sunday morning around 6:30am with a large bunch of riders and a support vehicle.

Seems like its a standard for road rides?

PS don't beat your wife up now because you have all that pent up frustration from cyclists that piss you off in the traffic and you just carry the aggro around with you

 

 

I never defended anybody breaking the law, I do however take issue with the barbarian mob mentality exhibited by a few on here. There are channels to resolve issues. IQ of 2 should take it up with the people involved (they are IDd by their clothing), without being a keyboard hero on the hub, and also (or alternatively) take the issue up with SAPS / Metro)

 

Cyclists going 'after' cyclists in the manner hubbers exhibit is just uncouth! It just makes it so much easier for 'other groups' to take 'our' own rights & defences away if 'we' can't even stand together. I.E. there are ways of doing this, but to wash dirty laundry in public like hubbers do are definitely NOT one of those ways!

 

Eagerly awaiting the feedback from the OP w.r.t. his 'chat' with the people mentioned in the first post, or alternatively a SAPS case number Until then, all this is, is just hot air by hot heads!

I have seen him several times at the races behaving like the world owes him a favour.

If he is the owner of NC, he really should spend less time brushing his hair, and more time on his business image.

We passed the group twice yesterday, he was leading on the outside edge on both occasions, so what the OP stated is more than likely correct.

What is there - a code of Omerta amongst cyclists, and becaue you wear Lycra you are my brother and we must stand together? Sorry mate I dont think so. Secondly I personally think that the best place to do dirty laundry is in social media and on internet forums. I couldnt have reached half as many people with my opinion.Some of whm actually know the people and saw similar incidents. So it will filter down believe me.

 

Finally let me point out that the forum is called rant n rave, so likely you will gte posts that are rants n raves. It wasnt under "cycling Safety" or unreporrted SAPS cases. I used rant n rave language. Its called flaming if youw ant to knwo. I wasnt trying to be objective and co-operative about it. I was pissed off.

 

Finally whilst I admire you sense of social justice I tend to stray towards summary justice in my life. So I have, for about 3 microseconds, weighed up reporting it to teh SAPS versus flaiming the guys on a forum of cyclists. I think b.) won.

 

What blows my mind how many self righteous responses there have been along the lines of:

 

"the hub is our only playground so we are allowed to do what we want there"

"you were delusional"

"alex is really a nice guy so it is okay"

 

Like there is a special class of citizenry called cyclists who have special needs and rights for them to do what they wnat. Man this is exactly what the problem is. There are still people who believe this. To this day. After all the dead cyclists on SA roads.

 

All of these miss the fact that the type of behavious gets people killed. It is Argus training time. People - mainly roadies, will die. Normally between about 6 to 10 every year. Some nearly died in the cradle as recently as last week, albeit for different reasons.

 

So whilst you can crow about reporting to the SAPS and doing dirty washing in the hub, I would be surprised if the NC bunch is as keen to spread themselves across the lanes next group ride, and someone will be more careful. If that is the case - mission accomplished.

 

And FWIW, I suggest you go to the charge office at the Muldersdrift police station the next time you see a transgresison and keep the hub updated on the progress of your case against said transgressors. And the next time some noob who doesnt know the rules cuts me off on the spruit - should I go to the Linden Police and lay a charge? I suggets a quiet word or even a loud swear word will teach whowever it is that I disapprove and leave him thinking about what was the best behaviour under the circumstances.
