....... their........

But in seriousness good luck. What you really need to do is find a coach who suits you.

You will be very hard pressed to win self coached and a majority of your competitors will have a programme and a regime which is tested and updated frequently.

Good luck with your preparation. It is a very cool goal to push for.

Sorry, I'm only in the top 10 for having fun, so no advice from me for going fast .

It's a great goal to aim for by the way! I'll be watching this thread for some ideas to improve myself, I'll need it soon to keep up with my children.

Good luck.

If I was in your position I would undoubtedly contact the guys from www.sciencetosport.com. It's Jeroen Swart and Mike Posthumus' and co's company. I've only bought a training programme from them, but they do offer coaching packages too. I've been very impressed with them!

I'm top ten in the 50-54 age bracket and this is what i suggest you do:

get all the cycling dvds u can find

order pizza

watch

repeat

We have enough experience, no need for that fancy shmancy training, power and weightloss nonsense, we know what we're doing.

And remember to get plenty of rest - no housework, no shopping with the missus - you're a finely honed athlete, coiled like a cobra ready for raceday.

Cannot agree more, a power meter is the best, then get the book Training and Racing with a Power meter, then get an engineering friend to read it and explain it.
