The actual process is you claim Aussie Vat and then pay SA VAT on landing.

quite right, but you had said you don't pay vat in SA if you paid it overseas......

oh and you still have to pay VAT on 2nd hand goods......and get an import permit from ITAC......well if you bought is 2nd hand that is......

anyways, back to the main show!

There's always a clever one, until they ask you the invoice, which they will. And if you value it less than R4000, which it def is not, then they will just get a real-time value for the bike.

And then seeing that you lied about the Value, you prob gonna pay a penalty as well. :whistling:

This discussion thread is now full of Knowalls. A am from Jhb and bought a Pina MTB ( carbon ) from a reputable BS in Limpopo . They sent me MANY pics of the bike/frame except a pic of the crack in the frame. It was a risk I took and accept.

   You clearly enjoy a shafting more than most...

I AM CONFUSED  what is your point, that MR ARMSTRONG took a risk buying from a shop and he must ACCEPT the fact that they gave him a dud??????I KNOW I AM SLOW BUT I DONT FOLLOW

My remark is not leveled at Mr A. but at some of the other EXPERT Hubbers that , in general , now give the sort of advice that you expect from your grandpa . I was not shafted. The price I paid , plus the fact that the BS refused to give a guarantee on the secondhand bike ( as they do not normally deal in 2nd bikes ) was within my risk tolerance.

And to think, Cycles Science could have paid out the difference between genuine and fake components, and walked away from all this. Instead they piss off a smarter man than themselves, and then follow it up with a feeble lawyers letter. Has so far, and will continue to go badly for them, until they make good their mistakes. All I see for now is the hole getting deeper.

Even if they make good on their mistake now, i would still not support them. Once youve been shafted by someone it is difficult to trust again

buying used bikes and knowing so has no relevance to this thread as is about buying new and real and being told so and then finding out it is fake. Risk tolerance is not an issue here as there is no risk as is a new buy !!

The only issue here is that cycle science sold a fake as a real item and as such was a fraudulent act !!

Cycle Science Reply to Armstrongs letters on Hub

5. You have similarly deliberately neglected to disclose across the social media platforms that (a) having taken delivery of the completed bicycle on or about beginning December 2013 you enjoy a five year warranty (fully supported by us) on the bicycle and components, that (b) you in fact used the bicycle without complaint for several months and that © on numerous occasions over the aforementioned period you informed us and others that the bicycle you had purchased from us gave you the best ride you had ever experienced.

I PUT IT TO YOU that AA's legal eagle will make mincemeat out of clause 5c)

WTF where they thinking by putting that in, it shows me the most that these guys will do anything to justify doing the wrong thing.
