I struggled with itb for 6months. It usually started after 2km, at 4km I couldn't even walk. The next day I couldn't bend my knee. Fisio didn't help much, and it literally disappeared overnight. Almost two years now without any pain, touch wood.

See.... I always knew there was a 3rd force out there.

 

Some would call it divine intervention ????

Do u say your prayers before going to sleep?

I'm in the very same pirate boat as you...

 

I very convinced that the fact that I sit on my ass for AT LEAST 8:30 hours a day is my problem.

When I was in SA i was very active at work, hardly sitting ( that’s when I had itb, but that was purely due to much running in to short a time)

When I came to switz, I took up an office job and like you spent all day sitting.... and that’s when my lower back and hip pain increased drastically.

 

Sitting to much is baaaad and probably the next big evil after sugar....

Now I have a desk that can be raised or lowered which allows me to stand or sit

Between Camille's beer and ice-cream regime and Sarah's dessert fuel, I think I'll be able to adhere quite well to the diets of elite athletes.

 

 

This is why I cannot stop training, ever. I took a week off, and picked up 2kgs.

Worst thing about this is; if you save this route under your own profile Strava gives you your goal time....thats messing with your head!

Wow that is actually scary, strava estimates i'll be finished in under 9 hours

As a graphic designer I'm also in my chair a lot more than I would like... best thing I ever did, took the back rest off it :thumbup:

You can even sit on a gym ball if you like.

If I look at my predicted time it is definitely out with at least an hour.

On a normal office day, which includes the morning and evening at home, I make +-2,500 steps if I don't run.

 

This is about average, excluding any running.

I sit behind a wall of computer screens for 12 hours a day. 

 

Best thing we did was complain till our boss bought standing desks. Press a button and the thing rises. 

 

Probably not cheap but its torture sitting for so long

Yep that’s what we use, really helps

I also sit 10 to 12 hours a day behind a computer. A physio told me that you have to take a walk or move at least every hour. I struggle with it when I am under pressure, but I do try and get a bit of a leg stretch.

Also in the computer scene, part of my shoulder issues as well... we're not made for this! 

 

Back to the food/diet topic - in agreement with all of those comments. Eat and be healthy. Starving yourself will hamper all recovery processes. Not saying go bananas with the unhealthy stuff, but even that has a place. And if you want pro opinion on this - David Roche actively promotes ditching the scale and eating pizza!  :D Selective reading works for me!
