Pulse Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Hi guys, can someone please assist me. Does Suunto ambit 2 heart rate monitor work with ant+? Is it a decent watch? I need a watch that will show me pace distance and time o the same screen all at once. Will it be a good one to start of with. I can get one for a good price. ThanksNot sure if someone answered you...It is Ant+ https://www.thisisant.com/directory/suunto-ambit2 There is also a small ‘ant+’ logo on the back of the unit.
Ronniek Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Just discovered I’m neither a runner or a cyclist [emoji15] Barry Stuart 1
Odinson Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Never gone out to set a 5k PB. Always just kind of happens during a longer run. Sub-20m 5km is *** fast though.
Ronniek Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Never gone out to set a 5k PB. Always just kind of happens during a longer run. Sub-20m 5km is *** fast though.Just checked my Strava quickly. Closest I came to that was 20:54 at our club’s time trials. That was pre Comrades on high mileage legs though. Was aiming to better that until the tendinosis struck. 18 minutes is freaking quick for somebody that considers himself a non runner.
Mats Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 18 min .... then I should sell my running shoes and use my flip flops for my strolls around the block cause by these standards I am a tortoise. Barry Stuart, Carmichael, Frosty and 2 others 5
Odinson Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Correction - just checked Strava. I did do a 5k attempt in Oct last year. Ended up with a 22:53. I'm really going to get back into my running after my 100km MTB ultra in Feb. So, I'll put a goal in to do a sub-20 by somewhere mid year. SwissVan and Hacc 2
Stretch Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 A dedicated 5km time trial is very important to determine your fitness level. You should be doing it periodically. If you really want to test your fitness.... Have a go at a mile time trial... That'll kill you! Lexx and Odinson 2
Breezer Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Sorry guys, did not want to offend anyone. What I meant was that I do not run regularly. I run on my cycling fitness. I did once train for a half marathon, but that was it. I have a bad knee and to much running causes pain. If I run 5k I am able to do it full blast for the whole distance. So I am more a sprinter than a runner.
Frosty Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 My best ParkRun is 25:53, and also my best 5Km time (Strava and Garmin recorded 4.9Km though). Not even going to contemplate a sub-20 run.
shaper Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 21.35 for me, I would have to do some serious speed work to get it down to anywhere near a sub 18!!
SwissVan Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 < 18 5k I'm sensing a new Cyclists with a "Running" Problem sub thread challenge for 2019.... My best Parkrun i believe is 26:22 Long way to go to break 20', never mind 18' Chris_, Hacc and Lexx 3

Odinson Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Which 100k are you doing, not in Eu i take it?It’s part of the EPIC series here in Belgium. In Feb there’s the 100 and 200km MTB marathons, a crit later the year and then I’m also doing a 50km trail run in the hills around Spa.
Chris_ Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 I just checked my Garmin app for PB's... My 5k (21:44 ), 10k, 21k, AND 42k are all from the same day! It was Kaapsehoop marathon - anyone who's run it will know how that worked out Lexx 1

dave303e Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 I have an 18:11 5km pb, mixed surface tar and trail but that was nearly a year ago, I am weary to think I can currently beat it. On a treadmill I have gone sub 18 a few times, but it doesn't count, that is like being motorpaced and is usually followed by a week of recovery from shin splints. I want to run Kaapsehoop just for that marathon pb time, never actually run a marathon, or a half marathon(other than triathlons)
